January 10, 2009
According to reports by a prominent Lennox school bus accident attorney, 26 school age children were transported to an area hospital after two school buses collided.
California Highway Patrol Officer Jose Nunez stated two charter buses were transporting children from a Lennox school when they collided on the freeway. The school bus accident occurred on Interstate 405 according to Officer Nunez after 9:30 a.m. while transporting the children to the La Brea Tar Pits in West Los Angeles.
The charter buses were traveling through a construction zone at the time of the accident at speeds of approximately 20 miles per hour when one bus struck the other in the rear end.
According to spokesman Ron Myers of the City Fire Department twenty-six of the children stated they had pain, eighteen were transported by ambulance and eight were transported by private vehicles to the hospital for treatment. Myers also stated that any injuries the children sustained were exceptionally minor and they were taken to the hospital as a safety measure.
However, at least one of the children is reported to have suffered a broken back. At least one of the bus drivers was allegedly arrested by police on scene. If you were injured in this accident, or are a witness, you are encouraged to contact an attorney at 888-400-9721.
