Even though the snow of this winter has yet to fall many are beginning to think ahead to next summer and vacation at Chalet View Lodge. Nearby Tourist Towns

Take a small drive from Chalet View Lodge to the small town of Graeagle, California. Graeagle may be small in size and population but it is big in all that is has to keep you busy. An old mill and logging town, Graeagle has much history to its line of Red houses which are today filled with various unique shops and businesses. The millpond offers swimming to cool off and a peaceful place to relax or throw a line in to catch some fish. There are many beautiful golf courses and clubhouses in the area and many options for fine dining. Graeagle also offers miniature golf, horseback riding, and tennis courts. Be sure to find out the dates for the many summer events such as the Graeagle Arts and Crafts Fair and the Fourth of July Celebration which includes a parade and fireworks! Take a small drive in the opposite directions from Chalet View Lodge and you will stumble across the small town of Portola. A small mountain railroading town, Portola too has a much to offer in the way of things to do. Cross over the river into Old Town Portola where you find small shops, a quiet bookstore, and some places to get a bite. Visit the Williams House Museum or the Railroad Museum. Different events throughout the year include Railroad Days, New Years Eve Celebration, Christmas Tree Lighting, Sled Dog Races at Lake Davis, Music in the Park, and more! Being only a short drive from the Gold Lake Basin area and Lake Davis, you will never run out of places to hike and fish. Take in the beautiful scenery and be sure to drive up to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Sierra Buttes. There are many nearby lookouts such as Smith peak and Haskell peak that give you awe inspiring, once in a lifetime views. Don´t forget to check out Plumas Eureka State park located about 20 minutes from the lodge. You are even able to take a quiet walk right from our Lodge property to the Feather River. Or enjoy the simplicity of fishing in our fully stocked fishing pond. Throughout the hundreds of rivers, streams, creeks, and lakes you will find Rainbow, Brown brook, Eagle Lake, and Mackinaw trout. Other kinds of fish include Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Catfish, Carp, and King Salmon. You will find many spots perfect for fishing in a boat, fishing from the bank, or fly fishing. During the year you will be able to hunt for deer, duck, bear, quail, and more. As far as hiking goes, you will never run out of options.
