Telephones are probably not something that you spend a lot of time thinking about, unless you have your cellular glued to your ear all day long. Even then, you probably don´t think about them very much beyond what you are doing in the moment. These phones are everywhere, and most people still have landline phones as well. These are some of the most important inventions of modern time, and you have to make use of them as best you can to make your life better and more enjoyable.
Though there are some that use email as their main way of contacting those they know, this will never take the place of phone conversation. Text messaging is popular, but it is very informal and will not work in some cases. If you have a lot to discuss with someone, text messages are just not going to cut it. Those will mobile phones tend to spend more time on them then they ever would have if they only had landline service - texting included.
You have your friends in your contact list, and you may have an address book if you prefer to use your home phone for contact. You have ways of storing business numbers that you need, and you know where you can find those numbers if you need them. However, you have to know how to reach someone if you don´t know their numbers. With landline numbers, you know you can use the white pages, and for business, you can use the yellow pages.
If you want to find cellular numbers, you may wonder if you can use the same type of directory that you can with residential phone lines. Sadly, the answer is no, though most who have mobile phones think that is a good thing. Any forward directories for cell numbers are unofficial and are not legal. You have to use other resources to find those numbers.
On the other hand, you can find a telephone directory if you want to do a reverse phone lookup. These are legal as you have a right to know who is calling you, especially if that call would cost you money on your cellular plan. These work very well, even when a number is well protected. You don´t have to be baffled by anonymous numbers any longer.
