Miniature Poodle
The poodle breed is found in small, medium, and large sizes, and in many coat colors. Originally bred as a type of water dog, the poodle is skillful in many dog sports, including agility, obedience, tracking, and even herding. Poodles are elegant in the conformation ring, having taken top honors in many shows.
The feet are small, oval and webbed, with arched toes. The ears are long, flat, and wide, laying close to the head. The eyes are black or brown, with a lively expression. The head is long and the neck is solid and slightly arched. A good Poodle has a square silhouette, with approximately the same length as the height at the withers.
The Miniature Poodle is built just like the Standard Poodle for sale, only on a smaller scale. They have the same temperament, needs and grooming requirements.
The Miniature Poodle comes in many colors, but all of them are to be solid for show dogs. Even the lips and nose should be the same color. This is where a lot of Miniature Poodles fall short as show dogs, as they could have bi-colored lips, or more than one color in their coats . The tail and head are naturally held high.
The Miniature Poodle is a cheerful, super smart, sensitive and highly trainable companion dog. The breed is great at learning tricks, and a favorite in the circus ring. The Poodle will love being a part of family activities. He is very amusing and clever. Many owners feel this dog understands speech in an uncanny way. Some love to play with children, but some can be sensitive and nervous if the owner does not provide proper balance.
They can be somewhat high-strung if not given the proper type and amount of exercise. Be careful where you buy puppies for sale. Purchase from parents you have met and liked, and even ask to see the grandparents if possible. They tend to be quite reserved with strangers and should be socialized as a puppy. Any effort the owner puts into training and socializing will be well rewarded. This is a very good watchdog for its size, seldom becoming aggressive. They do tend to bark a lot without rules to follow and limits to what they are allowed to do.
