How to Apply for a Teaching Position
The next step in the process deals with research and background information. Applicants will have to send in the required documentation, such as references, test scores, transcripts, and their certification. If all this information is validated the applications are sent to the Human Resource Director. The director sends a list of names of all qualified applicants to the principal. The principal will select applicants for a formal interview. If the interview goes well and the principal gives the applicant his approval a letter of hire is sent to the county office.
In about a week the applicant will receive a formal invitation to the county office to fill out paper work for the desired position. The applicant can expect to spend at least 5 to 7 hours at the county office. During this visit everything that a new teacher to the county needs to know will be covered. Information such as the benefits package, insurance, school policy and procedures for the county, etc. One of the last procedures that are done during the county meeting is fingerprinting. Each new employee has to have several sets of fingerprints on record with the county and the state. Identification cards are issued during the last part of the meeting. Every employee in the county is responsible wearing his name badge whenever they enter a school building.
