Teaching Kids to be Kind to Animals

Children are gentle souls. There are impressionable and things they learn at a keen age shapes their character. The best way to teach them to share and care is at home. Kids are naturally attracted to animals. Qualities such are tending to animals or caring is interesting to them. Tell them to be kind to the crawling ant and show them how it carries crumbs to save for the rainy day. Show them the tadpoles swimming in the puddle and let them talk to them.

Use a stand in the kitchen to feed birds and a bowl of water for them to quench their thirst. Show them pictures in newspapers about extinct animals and the devastation of pollution. Kids do understand simple things that littering and cloudy water is bad for animals. Bring them hard bound picture books and how them the cute bunny and the big eyed gorilla.

Let them care for the cat by allowing it to have some milk. The leftovers can be kept for the stray dog. Teach them never to throw stones or hit animals. Take them to the conservation park and show them a monkey or the rare bird. Show them the varieties of turtle. In case the child gets violent about animals teach them by touch how it hurts. Tell them that the animal too is a baby of its mother and they get sad. Emotions are well understood by kids as they feel the same.

One could call up the ambulance for stray dogs and nurse a sick animal back to health. Nature walk is liked by kids and also the best way to bond with family. Kids love to see the litter of new born pups and the mother nursing them. They see a direct relationship owing to their own attachment towards their care giver. If kids are made to understand that cutting trees and polluting water is harmful for animals, then the future concepts of ecology and environment conservation is easy for them.
