Police raid homes in Minneapolis – Occupants guilty of "thought crime"

If anyone in America still believes they live in a "free" country, they should take a closer look at the events that took place in Minneapolis.
Last night police and the Ramsey County sheriff's department handcuffed and detained dozens of people (in a public place) who were planning a demonstration. This was followed by raids early this morning on a number of houses by teams of around 25 officers.The officers entered the homes (without showing any warrant) in riot gear and carrying semi-automatic weapons, handcuffed the occupants and ordered them to lie on the floor.
Law enforcement officers seized computers, journals and political literature, and searched for "bomb making" materials that can be found in almost any household.
And who were these people? Al Qaeda terrorists, Islamic extremists, or perhaps militants looking to nuke some US city?
According to the reports they were just a bunch of politically minded kids (some described as "hippies") planning to make a protest against the GOP convention! And their crime? "Conspiracy to commit riot"
They had not broken any laws, they had no plans to use violence and had not even carried out the protest. However, it seems that just thinking about making a protest is sufficient to warrant a raid on your home and be treated like some criminal.
No doubt some will say "So what? They were just "hippies" looking to cause some trouble!", but that would be accepting that "free speech" no longer exists. It is not important who they are, how old they are, or what political views they support, they should be allowed to protest (peacefully) if they choose to do so.
Today it´s a few kids, but what next? Could your home be raided tomorrow if you plan to make a protest against the government? You think it can´t happen? This did!
I´ve had so many people write to me and say "Thank God we live in a free country" and I´ve responded by saying that this is no longer true. Here´s the proof.
You live in a country where the government is corrupt, laws are "bent" to suit those who really control the country (not the government), you are forced to choose Presidential candidates that are selected for you (so it doesn´t matter which one wins). Your country is taken into illegal wars that the public do not want and you have a leader that is trying very hard to start a Third World War. Bush has the audacity to criticize countries like Russia for lacking "Freedom and Democracy" yet runs America like a dictatorship.
You probably won´t see too many reports of these raids in the Mainstream Media, but that´s not very surprising as they don´t want you to hear about things like that. And if they do, you can be sure they will link these kids to some "terrorist" organization and tell you how lucky you are that the "State" saved you once again.
Isn´t it wonderful how your leaders take such care of you and protect you from all those bad guys out there? The only problem is, some of you can´t see who the bad guys are any more!
