Ms. Casperson has been a nurse for over 25 years, and a nurse practitioner for 10 years. She is currently employed at Northeast Indiana Urology (NEIU) in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she specializes in sexual dysfunction and pelvic floor rehabilitation. NEIU defines its mission as "offering state of the art therapies emerging from clinical research to all of our patients while maintaining the highest standards of care". NEIU offers many treatment options to their patients, including Interstim, pelvic floor physical therapy, as well as new treatments through their research wing.
"I think the one thing we can offer patients that distinguishes us in the field is that we have a large research wing and sometimes that´s what is needed," says Casperson "Sometimes the best treatment is looking at what´s in the research stage and having our patients participate in the research."
Casperson gives presentations to nurse practitioners at both local and national levels. She recently spoke at the International Society of Cognitive Behavior Therapist convention in Rome, Italy as a guest speaker. Ms. Casperson has also published a book, "Sex and the Heart", with Dr. Chris Steidle, and is expected to publish the second edition to this book shortly.
Ms. Casperson is very passionate about her work and her patients. "I love my patients. They are wonderful. My position is very fulfilling, and my patients are very appreciative of everything that I do. It is wonderful to know that you are doing something good for somebody else." Casperson left me with one final message, "I´m available, I care, and we will get through things together."
