The mobile phone market is witness to a rapid succession of innovations and Bluetooth mobile phones are one such innovation. In today´s age when people are always on the move, they desire connectivity at the minimum price. Keeping this need in mind, the phone manufacturers have come up with these phones.

These mobile phones use the Bluetooth technology. This wireless technology is used to link up and share data with other compatible devices such as personal computers, notebooks and printers. The devices available are 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 2.0 + versions. The different versions differ in the speed of data transmission and the distance that they can cover which ranges between 10 to 100 meters. The data is transmitted using radio waves. The radio waves are usually in the 2.4 Gigahertz frequency bandwidth.

To transfer a file from a phone to a compatible device or vice-versa, one has to first select the file to be transmitted. Then one has to submit it by "send to" the chosen compatible device by pairing the two devices. Once the connection between the two is established, the file will be transmitted. It can be received by accepting the incoming file.

Bluetooth mobile phones work on 2G and 3G networks, thus allowing the users to take advantage of the unique services on these networks. Most of these phones use the GSM technology. This technology is usually found in high-end phones that would also have features like a camera, a music player, FM radio and so on. Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Motorola are some of the phone companies that have already launched Bluetooth-enabled phones.
