Oromos – A Time for Thought

Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis
There are some basic truths in politics; it is always possible for anyone intending to do the best to finally and unwillingly contribute to a nightmarish disaster that all would have certainly done their best to avoid. That's why a time for reflection is at times far better a solution than a time of unsubstantiated action.

In fact, countries have disappeared just because of an unthought action. On the other hand, nations that were rather viewed as marginal and rather unheard of, following correct reflection and timely action, have risen to existence and then prominence.

It has been very clear for some time that the Oromo leadership failed to justify the great expectations of the Oromo Nation for freedom, independence, and definite, irrevocable secession from the genuinely anti-Oromo, colonial state of Abyssinia.

The Amhara controlled state, even at the times of the Tigray-led administration, is an evil Amhara fabrication produced on the purpose of spiritual, cultural, religious, social Genocide of the Oromos (and many other subjugated nations); if the aforementioned – systematically, criminally and inhumanely prepared – Genocide was rebuked by the Oromos (and the other subjugated nations) through means of resistance, then the evil, worse than Nazis, Amhara elites and their instruments (the fanaticized masses of analphabetic and barbaric Amhara canailles) perpetrated the Final Solution, the Physical Genocide.

One Irreversible Truth is screamed from every Odaa tree's leaves, from every Oromia river's sprinkles, from every single stone of Biyya Oromo:

There cannot be a state in the Universe where the Oromos and the Amharas will live together.

In fact, if there cannot be a state like that in the universe, it will certainly not be in Africa.

The only place reserved for every single Oromo within an Amhara inspiration state is the tomb; this very tomb where millions of Oromos have been massacred so that their descendants still listen today the same Satanic alteration of History, the same evil falsehoods, and the same antihuman lies of the criminal Amharas settlers (naftagnas).

Every single word uttered by an Amhara is the worst possible insult against every Oromo, if this Amhara lives out of the borders of the Amhara state of Gondar before 250 years.

Every moment an Amhara thinks about the Satanic construction of 'Ethiopia', the world's most lethal, most antihuman and most evil state, is a moment that threatens the existence of the Oromo Nation.

There is nothing to link the Oromos and the Amharas except blood – Oromo blood shed allover Biyya Oromo because of the monstrous Amhara anti-Oromo, colonial plans and the Amhara efforts to materialize the 'Ethiopianist' project.

There cannot be any link between Oromos and Amharas within a state that would not be a link of Oromo servitude to the Amhara.

Certainly the Oromos are not a powerless nation; faraway. But the Oromos cannot possibly conceive a similar plan, like that executed for over 150 years by the Amharas, namely a project of Amhara annihilation; this plan at the antipodes of the Amhara plan would certainly be an un-Oromo plan that would consist in sheer stigma in the 4500 years long Kushitic Oromo History that started in the Nile plains of Kush and Meroe, Ancient Ethiopia, which is totally unrelated to the Amhara and Tigray Abyssinia.

So, the Oromo plan can only be a project of secession.

Any Oromo who suggests the cohabitation of the Oromos and the Amharas within the present colonial borders of the Cholera State of 'Ethiopia' either is a criminal renegade or an un-Oromo revengeful totalitarian aspirant. Both types are dangerous for the future of the Oromo Nation.

Beyond the fundamental layer of Identity Politics one reaches the realm of Interest Politics, the entire microcosm of the conventionalists, the conformists, the consumerists, the materialists, the relativists, all the byproducts of the collapsed Western civilization that would have been today thunderously rejected and bitterly denounced by all the pillars of the Renaissance and Modern Europe, Dante, Pico della Mirandola, Thomas Moore, Cossimo dei Medici, Paracelsus, Shakespeare, Michelangelo, Miguel de Cervantes, Pascal, Racine, Corneille, Moliere, Montesquieu, Goethe, Voltaire, Nicolas Poussin, Tintoretto, El Greco, Pushkin and Tolstoi, had they been alive for a second.

Exposed in the Western World, where many Oromo refugees found a better life, prosperity, and a peace of mind, the Oromos could not have imagined that this world, which looks so much better than the Abyssinian cholera, is still a world in advanced decadence and a world – threat for the preservation of Oromoness.

Few Oromos have been left in the Diaspora to understand that the Western Democracy is not a democracy but a totally corrupt system of well covered tyranny in which secretive organizations initiate simple people into their mysteries, and then they, as members, act as typical servants and promote the secret organization's goals and policies from the positions where their 'brethren' in the organization have managed to get them hired.

A secretive world that cannot stand even for a moment the openness, the fairness, the equity, the justice and the humanity of Gadaa.

These are the Oromos' worst enemies – far more perilous than the simple, pathetic and racist Amharas; many among the Oromos' Western interlocutors, Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Australians belong to these secret organization, which is not totally unknown but simply keeps their members' names undisclosed. They can be deputies and congresspersons, senators and diplomats, academia and businessmen, military and intellectuals. Certainly not all of them! But few can truly identify these people, as it takes particular study.

The Oromos's exposed to evil influences exercised on them by these people have not spent time to check whether the 'suggestions' submitted to them contradicted the fundamental values of Oromoness; this led automatically to misperceptions, misconceptions, wrong targets, and erroneous policies.

In fact, for any Oromo political leader in the Diaspora, there is nothing worse than the promises given by interlocutors who cannot be definitely identified as regards the secretive societies and organizations of which they are members. But this problem is only part of a greater one!

There cannot be a single Oromo Diaspora leader who, trying to contribute to the Oromo struggle for Independence, Freedom and National Identity, will decide to rely on foreign contacts – even if they originate from the State Department and the White House. Imagining that one will liberate Oromia with the help of this or that president is not simply erroneous, utterly un-Oromo, and politically wrong; it is critically pathetic because, even if we assume that the promise is true, it is given only in order to ensure external control over the forthcoming Oromia Republic.

What is left to the Oromo aspirant liberators is simply their mind, their Oromoness, and the fountain of Finfinne: all the Oromos who are sufficient enough for the liberation of Oromia. A plan must be established, stages must be clearly delineated, all possible combinations of political and diplomatic contacts must be undertaken, and all efforts of propaganda (internal and external) and mobilization must be deployed.

All Oromos must be contacted and the discussions and decisions must be announced in public; double language, duplicity and mendacity are characteristics of un-Oromoness.

It is certainly normal for criticism to be expressed, but there cannot be intrigues set up by people abiding by Gadaa. And there cannot be lies among Oromos – let alone Oromo political leadership.

In fact, there cannot be a single Oromo to announce that meeting another Oromo is impossible. I have to admit that the Somalis proved to mange it better; they managed to at least hold a meeting in Yemen, among the two factions of ARS. They split afterwards, that's true, but at least they met.

Now, all the Oromos must meet; all the political leaders, deputies from the pseudo-parliament of occupied Finfinne, irresponsible collaborators of the Amhara enemies from Ginbot-7 and Qinijit, every Oromo organization must be convoked. The names of those who do not come must be announced and denounced.

In a meeting of non elected authorities, majority or minority matters little. The meeting must attest the differences of opinion, and they must be made known publicly. Then, a question must be made to all:

Do you want to shape one common policy among Oromos or you prefer to merge with alien partners from other nations, like the Tigray, the Amhara or the Polynesians?

The negative answers should also be made known in publicly. In fact, nothing must be left unsaid among Oromos and within Oromo political leaders' minds or hearts; everything must be spelled out in front of all the Oromos. Then, it will be far easier for all to continue, and for the entire Oromo Nation it will be absolutely easy to choose. And they will choose wisely and energetically.

This meeting should be convoked by the OLF as this political formation has long been the central Oromo political power. There is one more reason; it is the organization where the problem was attested.

It is certainly informative to issue statements but the moment needs drastic reaction and political integrity. Maximal sentences about these guys being 'in' and those guys being 'out' are full proof of lack of Oromoness. Perhaps westernized Oromos, who do not feel the need to abide by Gadaa laws, should follow the excellent example of Ayaan Hirsi Ali and pursue a political career in their new countries; they could help from there too. This is undeniable; but now every word an Oromo leader says must be the epitome of all things Oromo, the quintessence of Oromoness.

If this is impossible, step out because unconsciously you harm the targets you first have set to yourself.

On the other hand, I find completely deplorable for an Oromo hand to write expressions that I came to notice in the leading Oromo portal Ayyantuu.

I would like to know since when a 'takeover' became sociopolitical practice of the Gadaa meetings.

I would also know what means – as supposedly sheer expression of Oromoness – the concept "these guys raised more money than the others".

What makes of an Afaan Oromo speaking person a fully accredited Oromo citizen? Truth and submission to the truthful Order of Values set by Waqaa or just his pocket's money?

How much shall I pay to become Oromo?

I only hope that the people involved in the maelstrom of Oromo destruction forget the promises made to them by evil Western decision makers and look at the eyes of a starving Oromo baby in the eastern confines of Borana. An Oromo mother's tear is for them the most exquisite diamond in the world.

And the rest is silence.

And a Time for Thought.

I republish the ONL Statement and the un-Oromo text from the Ayyaantuu portal; I feel that all the Oromos, reading both texts, will mobilize all their forces to gather all Oromo political leaders together. Otherwise, it will be a time for crisis and tears.

Finfinne will not be lost; it will only look remote for a while. Then, at the end, it will radiate again. But it will be with a totally different generation of Oromo leaders. All the brave Oromo youth of today who are still clean; like the waters of the Finfinne Fountain.

Statement of OLF Executive Committee on Unconstitutional Activities and Conspiracies Against the OLF

Adda Bilisummaa Oromoo

Oromo Liberation Front

Date: 31/07/08

No.: 021/stm/abo/2008

The Executive Committee (EC) of the OLF conducted an emergency meeting to deliberate on the current internal anarchic and anti organizational activities and passed the following decision.

It has been observed that a clique has clandestinely been conducting destructive activities within the organization for a while. This includes agitations targeting the legitimate leadership of the organization in contradiction to the latest resolutions of the National Council that met last March, 2008. The effort of the leadership to handle this matter wisely and patiently has been disregarded. Now that this clique has gone

public in its campaign against the organization by:

1. Conducting illegal public meetings in Nairobi, and Minnesota USA, to that effect;

2. Publicly declaring their split from the organization on electronic media and

3. Declaring, on public radio, that they have substituted the legally elected leadership of the organization by their own men;

4. Stated that they have, unconstitutionally, revised the political program of the organization.

The EC, as the defense council of the organization, realizing:

a) that this situation poses danger to the safety and security of the organization,

b) the need to avert the looming confusion in the organization and

c) that the members, supporters and the Oromo people at large should be informed about the possible danger facing the organization and prepare them for the necessary required actions and

d) the need to avert any possible damage to the organization and defend the constitution, rules and regulations of the organization has taken the following administrative decision.

The following core leaders of the clique:

1. Hassan Hussein

2. Leeco Baatii

3. Kamal Galchu

4. Abbaa-Nagaa Jaarraa

are excluded from any responsibility or activity of the organization, as of today July 31, 2008, for their activities against the liberation struggle lead by the OLF, violating the constitution of the organization and declaring division within the organization.

These individuals can not represent the organization in any capacity nor speak on its behalf. The EC will subsequently take any necessary measure to avert possible action directed against the activities of the organization by any means.

Victory to the Oromo People.

Oromia: Successful Takeover of the OLF

By Getachew Humnara / August 2, 2008

Minneaplis, Aug 2, 2008 - The former Ethiopian military generals, Kamal Galchu and Hailu Gonfa, together with Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) inside and outside Oromia, have made successful takeover of the leadership of OLF led by Dawud Ibsa. The generals were joined with all of their reporting OLA commanders and some members of the executive committee of the OLF. This includes Lencho Lata and Dima Nagawo, former OLF deputy general secretaries and other high ranking OLF executive committee, including, Licho Bukra, Hassen Hussein, Lenco Baati and Yonatan Dhiphisa.

August 1, 2008 in Minneapolis, members and supporters of the newly formed committee made a sweeping fundraising event, raised over $200,000. The generals who defected to OLF some two years ago, promised to re-engage the Oromo people marching for liberation and work for unity among various factions of OLF. They also promised to work with other Oromo organizations inside and outside of Oromia. Their ultimate goal is to move the OLF leadership inside the country.

The discussion over the weakness of the former Executive committee has been going on for over a year now. It was intensified among the Oromo younger generation over internet chat known as paltalk taking a chance on change.

On the other hand, members and supporters of Dawud Ibsa group also made a fundraising event the same evening. It has not yet been known how much they made, but it is for sure that they raised much lower than the generals' group.

It is not yet clear as how this newly formed group will engage arms struggle. In their statement issued yesterday in Oromiffaa, they will make a change in the behavior and style of the struggle of the Oromo people and the OLF in order to intensify the arms struggle.

The new group will have a lot of works to do to convince the Oromo people, among others: 1) it needs to show that it is for secular Oromian State, separating religion from power; 2) overcome regional issues, specifically with Wollega, the powerbase of the former OLF leadership; 3) deal with the West which has an eye on the Oromo struggle as a strive for creating an Islamic state; 4) neighboring countries, the Abyssinians (Amhara and Tigre) ambition and manipulation; 5) redefine the stance of OLF on the relationship between Eritrea and Ethiopia and Oromia; and 6) the state of Ethiopia in general, etc.
