Save the Tatas Taking Aim at Breast Cancer With Boob Lube
Save the Tatas is one of the most creative inventions for women. Their main product, Boob Lube, is a soap that serves as a reminder to women to check their breast monthly. It comes complete with a monthly check off box and instructions without the need for a PhD to decifer them.
Doctors have long said that breast self-exams are one of the best ways to be proactive in your health. The medical field is emphasising breast awareness because women who know their breast will know when something is not normal for them, thereby catching cancer early for the best treatment options and outcomes.
Julia Fikse started Save the Tatas after a relative was diagnosed too late with breast cancer. She decided that women needed to become better educated on breast health, and particulary breast self-exams. All the old school stuff was intimidating to women or brushed aside, so a creative way was needed to get the attention of women.
Save the Tatas uses fun packaging, cleaver product names, and information to help women take a proactive stand with their breasts.
You would think that would be enough, but Juslia also wanted to help fun cancer research, so she set it up so that 5% of each sale goes to cancer research. In the early days the checks were small, but over the last 4 years Save the Tatas has been able to donate nearly $180,000 for breast cancer research.
Save the tatas shows that a message can be sent out in a creative way to get the attention of the intended target group. No manipulation or scare tactics, just good education, awareness, and a reminder to Save the Tatas through monthly breast exams with Boob Lube.
