Two Top Summer Concerts That You Must See

Kenneth Elliott
Summer is the time for fun and laughter. It´s also the time to see some great concerts that are touring the United States. I would like to introduce Neil Diamond and John Mellencamp.

The eccentric Neil Diamond has an outstanding collection of 38 classic songs that will sooth your heart. Listening to these songs it is easy to see how he crosses musical boundaries and genres.

Neil Diamond will feature hits that will be included on this tour including Shilo, Cracklin´ Rosie, Cherry Cherry, I Am, I Said, Play Me, Red Red Wine the No. 1 hit from 1967 which he wrote for The Monkees, ´I´m A Believer´, the powerful duet with Barbra Streisand, ´You Don´t Bring Me Flowers´, the hits from his album and movie ´The Jazz Singer´, ´America´ and ´Love On The Rocks.

As for his concert, previous concert by Neil have nothing less than communal events that Neil transforms into intimate encounters between himself and the millions who attend those shows from tour to tour, and these special shows will prove just that.

His shows sell out all over the world, and it is recommend to get tickets early. Also, Neil is a Grammy Award winner, but above all Neil is an inspired singer-songwriter.

John Mellencamp has had to fight for everything that he has earned. Whether gaining the right to record under his own name or for respect as an artist.

Mellencamp began his career in the late ´70s as a clone for Bruce Springsteen called Johnny Cougar. As his career progressed, his music became more distinctive, developing into a Stonesy blend of hard rock and folk-rock. His musical development coincided with his growth in popularity — by the time "Hurts So Good" and "Jack and Diane" became hits in 1982, Mellencamp had created his own variation of the heartland rock of Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Bob Seger. While he had the record sales, it took several years before rock critics took him seriously. For some artists, this would be easy to ignore, but Mellencamp had the desire to be a serious social commentator, chronicling the times and trials of Midwestern baby boomers. Scarecrow, released in 1985, fulfilled his wish of being taken serious, and every record he released after it was greeted warmly by critics. Furthermore, he sustained his popularity into the late ´90s, only occasionally experiencing dips in record sales.
