Article Marketing for Traffic: 3 Vital Components
There are 3 major components to your campaigns, as well 3 vital components to the articles themselves. This discussion focuses on the vital parts of the campaign. For optimal results, it's important that you get each one of these aspects right.
The 3 major components of your article marketing campaign:
1. Your Target Page
The page on (or section of) your site to which you want to increase traffic must be set up, and you must choose the keyword(s) you want to target. This is a step that many miss. In order to maximize your results, first create a page or section of your site based on a keyword or group of keywords.
You will then use articles to send traffic to these pages, as well as boost your site's rankings for the particular keywords you've chosen. Choose these keywords wisely, and you can gain a significant amount of high value traffic to your site. Your intention is to create numerous links with SEO value pointing back to your target page using your keywords as anchor text.
2. Your Article
The article itself should be well written and offer value for your audience. A properly constructed article is keyword rich, designed to both rank high in the search engines, and send whatever direct traffic you can to your site.
There are 3 main components to your article, and it's important you get them right. A keyword rich headline, body, and a resource box with a call to action and live links. The call need not be a strong-sell, only a suggestion to the reader to click.
3. Additional Promotion
Additional promotion will help your article to rank better in the engines, pull more traffic, and serve as a better backlink for your site. Most people that I know of who do article marketing do not do this, and so you will have an advantage. Once your article is distributed to your article sites of choice, you need to do two things in order to promote both the article and the target page on your site.
First, create third party links and point them to the articles themselves. This can be done using a number of sources, including blogs that you own, blogs that others own, and social bookmarking.
Second, repurpose the article for use on other websites, linking back to your site. These can be other websites or blogs that you own, or user generated content sites such Squidoo and Hubpages. The more you can distribute your content around the web, the better. The more you can do this by creating unique content, the better. I highly recommend that you submit a different version of your article to each article directory, and to each third party site as this yields much better results.
Follow these guidelines for the 3 major components of your article marketing campaign. If you leave one of these elements out, your results will be less than optimal. Combine this with a properly constructed article and target page, and you can significantly increase traffic to your website.
