How to Become an EX-OBESE?

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Elhashemy
I am in a mission to help obese people allover the world to be an ex-obese, through spreading my innovated "Luqaimat Diet Plan" like the spread of good viruses. Not all bugs are bad, few types of bacteria are beneficial (e.g. lactobacilli – present in yoghurt – which are good for gut). As the spread of obesity is viewed by some scientists as a form of contagious disease (like viruses), Luqaimat diet can spread weight loss between people in the same manner to turn them from obese people to EX-OBESE.

I innovated Luqaimat diet in Jan 2005. In my first study group, I helped 345 non-diabetic obese people to achieve breakthrough result: 313 of them (91%) lost an average of 88 pounds within one and a half years. To my astonishment, I found my technique spread exactly like virus among Egyptian community to the extent that several thousands of obese people used it without any dietitian counseling. The cause is very apparent: it is very simple, very logic, and very efficient. It is a lifestyle diet plan that doesn't depend on caloric counting, rather it depends on small meal volumes (Luqaimat in Arabic laguage) several times daily (7-10) and moderate diversified meal at the end of the day (as rewarding meal).

My diet became the fastest growing diet in Egypt and in other Arab countries (including Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait). Hundreds of web articles in Arabic and in English languages have been posted by many writers analyzing and praising the "Luqaimat diet".

Why "Luqaimat diet" is so much successful? Because it let you eat all of your favorite foods and in frequent small volumes. When you eat the food that you love, you will cheer your tongue's taste buds as well as your brain's rewards centers. When you eat frequent small volumes (7-10 daily), you will suppress much of your gastric hunger hormone (Ghrelin), so you will not be in need for big fulfilling meals.

Nowadays, we live in an obesogenic environment involving:

1. Huge meals,

2. Frequent fast foods,

3. Delicious recipes.

4. Remote controls,

5. cars,

6. Escalators,

7. Others.

To achieve the status of being EX-OBESE, you have to kick one or more of such obesogenic items and sacrifice it. My obese patients found it easier for them to kick the habit of huge meals by shifting to Luqaimat-sized meals. Other habits are not much easily sacrificed, because they are part of our modern lifestyle.

Recently, I innovated a new food item, advising my patients to use it frequently as a satiating delicious Luqaimat-sized meal. Crushed pistachios are added to hazelnut chocolate spread (like "Nutella") in the ratio of 50 gm pistachios to every 100 gm Nutella. I advise them to eat a small spoonful of it several times daily as Luqaimat to suppress the hunger feeling. The mix (which I named "NUTPISTELLA") proved to be very satiating. I think this is because it has a low glycemic index, high fiber content, monounsaturated fats (55%), linoleic acid (33%), and linolenic acid (1%). These nutritional contents may cause additional suppression of the hunger hormone (Ghrelin), leading to:

Less hunger pangs,

Less need for brain rewarding foods, and

More energy expenditure.

More than 90% of around three thousands of my obese patients in the last three years succeeded in becoming EX-OBESE. I will discuss all details of this Luqaimat Diet Plan in my upcoming scientific diet book by the end of 2008.
