Opera Mini Launches Beta Version
The mobile phone browser can predict the URL of a site based on a few letters typed in the address bar. The browser brings to the mobile phone several features that were once available only by the computer version. It allows users to automatically search a page for content, highlighting relevant words and phrases. The browser also allows users to save entire pages into the mobile phones memory.
While the browser can be used on several mobile phones with Internet connectivity, some of its features can only be used by certain models. Only cell phones that support Java content are capable of using the upload and download function of the browser. The Opera Mini browser also allows users to sync saved content to the Opera browser on their computers. Saved content such as bookmarked URLs can be transferred from the handheld device to the personal computer.
The Opera Mini browser works best with a Java environment. Downloading the Opera browser to a mobile phone with Windows or Symbian platforms include a 30-day trial of the Opera Mobile browser. Opera Mobile was developed specifically for mobile devices using the Windows Mobile operating system.
The Opera Company´s main product is the Opera Internet browser for desktop and laptop computers. Since the advent of mobile devices with Internet access, the company has begun developing browsers for those as well.
This version of the Opera Mini mobile phone Internet browser was developed in a month and a half. A test run of the beta browser was shown to the public in May 13, 2008.
