Web-nagging

Tonya Parker Morrison
Ugh, I knew it was time for an update when the number of e-mails asking if I was still alive exceeded the number of e-mails from my mom asking when I'm going to "get married already." (Would that be wed-nagging vs web-nagging?)

So, here it is, lovely ones - the long overdue synopsis of what I'm working on, what I've been doing with myself and other sundry questions answered as I've received them. Gather round...... ;o)

Q: You have the COOLEST job! How'd you get it?

A: It's not as glamorous as it looks, trust me (is anything EVER?). It progressed from days working as a Music Director and deejay at a college rock station to securing promos to working with record labels, to writing for them, to writing for artists, to interviewing artists and writing for papers and magazines. That's the long and short of it, although it was, of course, much more grueling than that. Luck, perseverance and knowing how to put a few words together....that's it I guess.

Q: Where did you go? You haven't posted a blog or story in toooooo long! (Ginger from St. Louis)

A: I'd love to say I was off traveling to some exotic locale or otherwise entertaining myself to the point of exhaustion, but the actual true story is that I've just been working on two books in my "down time" from my day job as an entertainment writer. More on that later.

Q: I miss your blogs, rants and features, come on back! (Jack from Chicago)

A: Why thank you very much [blushing my fool red head off]. .

Q: When is the Black Eyed Peas article dropping? (Curtis from NYC)

A: That will be posted on the AC (American Chronicle) site by the last week of this month, February. It's an interview with Fergie and yes, we talk about shoes. Sue us, we're women.

Q: How is your family doing? How are things with AJ? (Catherine from NYC)

A: The family is golden, AJ is doing really well, thanks for asking. Nothing's blown up in quite some time, thank goodness.

Q: Where can I see more of your work? (Catherine from NYC again)

A: I am on too many sites to keep track of, as weird as that is to say. I TRY to search occ on the web and find every single site that has used my work (with permission or otherwise), but it's just mostly impossible. The best suggestion I have is to just use a good search engine like Google, Dogpile or just your browser search and type in my whole name. Sometimes that works.

Q: Do you put all of your new stuff on the AC site? (John, Los Angeles)

A: I actually don't, but that has more to do with first publication rights that papers or magazines buy than my personal constraints. Many of my articles have been purchased, but not printed on line or in hard copy and I can't do a thing about that unfortunately. I just have to be patient and keep on submitting.

Q: What do you have coming up that we can see?

A: Hmmmm...well, Black Eyed Peas I've already mentioned, but the Clint Eastwood article will be put up in March and several others are finished as well, but I just can't submit them to the American Chronicle site because of those publication rights, etc. that legal people deal with and I don't have much control over. Once an article is submitted to a buyer, it's pretty much theirs until it prints. I'll get a list together of upcoming features for the next couple of months and post it asap.

I'll answer more questions next time, I promise. For now, I've gotta get off my hiney and do some interviews that are due next week. My best to you all and thanks for writing!

xoxo
