Can Hillary Hang On Until The Convention

Ken Hughes
Hillary Clinton seems determined to hang in there until the last vote´s counted or until Obama sinks himself with an unforgivable elitist comment.

Hillary like Obama is one of those eastern elitists, the difference is she´s lived in the Ozarks long enough to know how to cover her Harvard persona. Obama on the other hand went from Harvard to the Black Cabal lording over the ghettos of Chicago.

Hillary has the financial means to continue her campaign, and she has the determination. The only thing that would sway her is the promise of an appointment to a government agency giving her nearly equal status with the president such as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. That position is filled and it isn´t likely to be vacant for some time. I can´t think of anything else that would satisfy Hillary´s ego. She could continue to be the Senator from New York until they wheel her out on a gurney that could be enough to satisfy her ego, Senators are one cut above God.

However if the Democratic nomination goes Barack Obama he hasn´t heard the last of Hillary Clinton. He stole her childhood dream of becoming the first woman president of the United States. No one steals political capital from a Clinton and not suffer some consequences. All Hillary needs to do is continually hammer away on Obama´s inexperience. Obama is having difficulty expressing his position or is deliberately avoiding doing so, either way Hillary can and will use it against him.

All Hillary has to do is keep the medias attention focused on Obama´s inability to wrestle the nomination away from her. The longer she holds Obama at bay the better her chances are. If Hillary can keep Obama from acquiring the needed delegates until the convention and the nomination goes to the floor Hillary has a better than a 50 / 50 chance of becoming the Democratic nominee for president.

John McCain has to feel like he´s in hog heaven as he watches this cat fight between the two Democratic presidential candidates. He can keep in touch with the media making sure he gets a reasonable amount of coverage and he can save campaign funds at the same time. The Gods are surely smiling of John McCain at least for a while.

This isn´t the first election that´s been preceded with controversy. The election of 1860 the first election the New Republican Party participated in and won with their candidate Abraham Lincoln. This may have been the most maligned candidate in the history of presidential elections. The Civil War was not popular in fact it may have been Americas most unpopular war.

Abe Lincoln took abuse from the Media and the public his entire presidency.

Other great presidents who weren´t popular during their administrations were Teddy Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, Ronald Reagan, and now George Bush. Each of these men accomplished a great deal for America and the world. Of the most incompetent presidents in the last half of the 20th century Jimmy Carter has to stand out front as number one.

There´s diffidently deterioration in the quality of politicians elected to serve in congress. Perhaps this is because there´s no recycling, the same congress men and women repeat the same mistakes year after year. Our congress lacks vision they seem to be stuck in yesterdays problems. If they didn´t solve them when it counted why bother when it doesn´t. The best way to clean up congress is to clean out congress. Term limits of a maximum of 12 years service would go a long way in bringing back a government responsible to the constitution and the American public.

Before punching the card, pulling a lever or marking a ballot think about what´s best for you and your family, think about what´s best for America. Think about the cost in monetary terms as well as the cost in your personal freedoms. A Government that promises everything has to get everything from somewhere. That somewhere is you and me and the rest of America´s common folks.

It´s not so much what the candidates say it´s what they believe that eventually is going to make the difference. A spin is a spin is a spin until it comes time for it to become a fact.
