Horizon T83 Treadmill Review
You can usually find the T83 selling for around $1,000. That is a very competitive price range. There appears to be some sort of psychology to spending $999.
So how does the T83 rate? I would say it is a contender, but there are a number of other brands to consider like NordicTrack, Sole, Smooth and BowFlex.
Horizon T83 Treadmill Features…
2.5 Continuous Duty Motor – Adequate for walking and light jogging. They claim the motor is the same as found in commercial models. The reality is commercial treadmills are usually equipment with monster motors that can withstand hours of daily usage. You would not find this motor in a health club treadmill.
Orthopedic Belt – Apparently the belt is thicker than your typical treadbelt, but I didn´t notice any difference.
ComfortZone Air Cell – This is suppose to provide extra cushioning on the deck. Once again, I didn´t notice much difference in the shock absorption, although it is a big improvement from running on concrete or asphalt.
Console and Display – The console looks cheap, but than again, most models at this price range do. It has three blue backlit LCD displays. Included in the console is a fan that provides some relief. There are also built-in speakers and an MP3 input. These are inexpensive speakers and the quality is not that impressive. The best speaker system I´ve heard on a treadmill is on the NordicTrack. Several of their models come with subwoofers.
Workout Programs – You get a total of 16 programs, which gives you a variety of challenges. The programs include; Manual, Intervals 1, Intervals 2, Intervals 3, Weight Loss 1, Weight Loss 2, Mountain Climb, Rolling Hills, Foothills, Golf 9-Hole, Golf 18-Hole, Pacer, 5K, 10K, Custom 1, and Custom 2.
Customer Reviews
In checking out the feedback from customers, I found a couple of very positive reviews on Amazon. One customer felt the Horizon T83 was commercial grade. I find it hard to believe we are talking about the same machine.
Warranty – The Horizon T83 treadmill has a typical warranty for the price, with lifetime on the motor and 1 year parts and labor. Several brands like Smooth and Sole offer 3 years parts. If you purchase this model, you may want to consider getting an extended warranty.
Our Review – Horizon T83 Treadmill
This is a very average treadmill. When I tested, the treadmill there was nothing that really stood out. In fact, when I cranked up the speed it wasn´t all that quiet. If you purchase the T83 you probably will be satisfied, however, I suggest you check out comparable models. You may end up with a better deal.
