Come Ohio-Hillary will be History- 2
Political experts have rightly pointed out that Obama has won eleven states in a row following Super Tuesday (Feb.5) and Hillary has to win all four states before she can think of continuing in the race. Since the surveys, polls and opinions clearly show that it is not going to happen therefore in all fairness Hillary must withdraw from the race after her defeat in these states, and instead support Obama and Democratic Party to face McCain in the national race for the president. It is opined that Obama is likely to win by two to one starting with Ohio.
Democratic Party needs to help Hillary understand the ground realities in Party interest. There are predictions that in it is only because of Obama that Democrat voters are out and voting. Hillary simply does not have the charisma to bring out the voters and it will be great loss to the Party in the national election.
In terms of national campaign it has been opined that McCain is ´test driving´ issues of national importance to entangle Democrat candidate. There is a general agreement that national security, foreign policy and experience are the emerging pillars of McCain´s campaign.
If I were to challenge McCain on national security, I would have used President Putin´s eight-year term to guide Democrats to victory. It was economy that built, sustained and expanded Putin´s presidency, national security and public image. McCain by promising to continue with current policies including national security- dubbed as Bush´s third term in office- will only make my job that much easier.
Reportedly, during Putin eight years in office, Russian national reserves have crossed one trillion dollars. Putin used energy and diplomacy to build the national exchequer and national pride. Bush on the other end has spent the budget surplus that he inherited from last president. His flawed policies have brought country´s economic growth down to 05%. According to IMF December report dollar has devalued by 30 percent and sliding. Global community is now seriously contemplating dollar de-pegging to control soaring oil prices. The average fuel prices in the country have reached $ 3.16 a gallon with few states crossing $4.12. Going by the predictions in Power of Paper by Christopher Ondaatje, within 10 years, the purchasing power of the dollar and the pound will be only 10 per cent of what it is today. People would have to make 10 per cent after tax a year just to stay in the same place. http://www.thestar.com/comment/article/308299
Reportedly, Bush govt. has borrowed heavily from the banks leaving US govt. the leading borrower. With Americans saving habits of -.5 percent as compared to 2% in UK and 50% in China only financial planners can answer the question as to how US budget deficit will be dealt with because traditionally public savings are major source of govt. borrowings to deal with budget deficit.
In diplomatic terms Putin has improve Russia´s global image and expanded country´s trade and business. American image has suffered at the global level due to Bush´s use of force, violation of human rights and failed policies in ME, Asia, Africa and Europe. The resistance to US diplomatic missions in Japan, most African, Asian and European states including its NATO allies, the resurrection of Russian strategic bombers flights and ME´s look East Policy show down side of Bush´s policies and erosion of US global image. Bush´s failure to end Palestine issue has only made matters worse. Today some 171 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza due to Israeli attacks (CBS news). Reportedly, 40 percent of the killed are women and children.
Reportedly, the expanses of Iraq war are likely to cross two trillion. Similarly, despite all efforts very few experts are openly willing to analyze the real dept of unfolding subprime abyss. It is also true for ongoing Surveillance War, White House standoff with lawmakers over details of removal of 9 Attorneys and torture debate. All these issues are related to country´s constitution and its violations. Next, are the mismanagement and corruption scandals in critical sectors including energy.
McCain, by pledging to support Bush´s Iraq war, maintain US troops in Iraq for next hundred years and ensure funding the troops is openly seeking public mandate for continuation of war. In other word he is not only seeking for the approval of Bush´s controversial war but powers of war time president who like his predecessor will not be ready to be accountable to America and spending of their tax dollars.
In economic terms by adopting Bush´s policies McCain wants to abandon some 34 million Americans who are living below federal poverty limit of some 20,650 dollars annually. If another 57 million Americans, struggling to find health insurance are added the figure comes to 97 million people. If this is not enough McCain would like to put up a plan to help children return to college who are presently dropping out of college due to financial constraints.
According to ABC report aired in 2007 only one out of seventeen children is able to continue college education from a family with annual earnings of 35,000 dollars or less. In case of parents, earning 80,000 or less, only one out of two children will be able to attend college.
The net result is US needs some 75,000 doctors, 100,000 nurses to cope with growing deficiencies in the health sector including closure of nursing colleges due to the chronic deficiency. It is not hard to understand the growing deficiencies because reportedly it costs around 126,000 dollar to complete degree in medicine.
McCain, therefore has made his case and it is clear that he is not ready to admit the economic and foreign policy challenges. In simple words America should not expect McCain to resolve their economic and change in flawed foreign policy because he is ready to acknowledge these issues in first place. Keeping in view the past eight years of Bush´s two terms in office there is little that could promise hope, security and prosperity. It is therefore hoped Obama campaign will focus on economy and stay away from McCain's hollow talk because it concerns average American's daily challenges. Obama by withdrawing troops from Iraq and Afghanistan can free the funds for domestic consumption, improve national image and restore respect for international law and conventions for collective and global benefit. It will help make the world safer and friendlier.
Obama on the other hand promises change starting with end of Iraq war and bringing people friendly economic policies. It is therefore hoped that America will overwhelmingly vote for Obama on Tuesday Ohio, Texas, Rhodes Island and Vermont to bring relief to average American. In view of ever expanding support of independent America and youth it is only matter of time that Obama will make history by regaining what was in the first place controversially lost to Bush in 2000 Presidential elections.
America, it is therefore time to call your friends in those states to vote for Obama, go on Obama website (http://www.barackobama.com/index.php) for more voter more information and latest statistics. Get up and join the Obama campaign as volunteers or full time support to help Democratic Party help average American face the challenges of daily life and improve America´s image and relations with rest of the world in step with American poet Robert Frost´s philosophy of ´good neighbors´.
Finally, come Ohio-Hillary will be history and Obama will win big.It is therefore hoped that Hillary will withdraw in favor of Obama to help Democratic Party to prepare and defeat Republican candidate in national election.
