Elhashemy's Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan ...... 5. The Luqaimat Nutella Factor
In my previous article, I discussed the importance of the superfoods as slimming factor; I classified cacao and chocolate as the third important category, and the nuts including hazelnut as the fifth important superfood category. Nutella include both chocolate and hazelnut in spread form. This spread form is more enjoyable than the solid chocolate, since it gives greater view of the chocolate for the same weight. A fourth reason for the better effect of nutella than chocolate that it is usually spread on bread which gives more satiety than the solo chocolate.
If you diet on nutella a week every other week, and if you spread half-filled table spoonful instead of its standard serving (two spoonfuls) on half piece of toast (and not two pieces) preferably of whole grain type, it is now a healthy micro-meal (Luqaimat nutella). If you take 5 times per day this form of Luqaimat in addition to 2 – 5 Luqaimat of fruits, at the end of the week you will feel un-prohibited, energetic, and I think that the dopamine level at your brain will be nearly doubled: partly because of the hazelnut and chocolate in nutella, partly because of your freedom to eat your beloved chocolate, and finally because you lost about 2 pounds.
The loss of pounds is due to several reasons, including:
1. Raising the mood as a result of raising the brain's dopamine levels,
2. Lowering food volume (hence the caloric content), since the nutella spread is served in Luqaimat size,
3. Eating 2 kinds of slimming superfoods, and
4. The sense of freedom and relief that you can lose weight while eating nutella chocolate.
I advised my obese patients, especially those who are fond of chocolate (nearly 95% of obese patients), to eat nutella in the manner I described for you. The effect is very encouraging; they lost 1-2 pounds every week. Of course they are very happy because they are losing weight although they are eating chocolate 35 times in one week.
Lately, (March 2008), the Advertising Standard Authority (ASA) in Britain advised manufacturers Ferrero UK to withdraw the commercial Ads about nutella, because the manufacturers said that nutella released energy slowly, so it could be part of a balanced breakfast, the ASA claim could be right because sugar is considered of high glycemic index.
I think that this release could be slowed if we take it in regular small quantities as I advise in Luqaimat diet. The fat and sugar content in the daily 5 Luqaimat nutella represents about 15% of the total daily fat and about 10% of the daily sugar requirements. It would be better if Ferrero UK advertisement encourage eating nutella spread on half toast several times per day instead of eating its standard serving as written on the label of the jar. If this is applied by adults in front of their kids a form of imitation will be done by those children and this will lead them to lose their excess weight, this is what I gave a genuine name of: Second Hand Slimming.
