Frankly, My Dear--Hillary Can't Offer Change

Rebekah Price
The current administration has left this country in a precarious state of ruin.  One of the main campaign promises to "bring dignity back to the White House", died abruptly after inauguration.  Bush has spent eight years playing court jester while Cheney conducted his personal administration from the secreted halls of the Vice Presidency, devastating this country's resources repeatedly for personal gain at the people´s expense.  Ironically, his poisonous, backroom tyranny caused us to protect the buffoon in the Oval Office, for no one in his or her right mind wants Cheney in the driver´s seat.

The ensuing death spiral leaves the United States in a Recession of staggering proportions.  We sacrifice our people daily in a war we never should have started.   Many are losing their homes and jobs at an alarming rate.   We do not take care of our own quickly or adequately in times of desperate need.   In short, we have no leadership.

Would another Clinton administration be any different?

Likened to Scarlett O´Hara by Maureen Dowd in the New York Times, Hillary is fighting tooth and nail to get back on top.  Not only employing the Clinton Machine for conquest of the Republicans, she has had to fight a perceived parvenu, whom she had not realistically considered a genuine threat to her ambition.   Sparring on all fronts, she is the GOP´s dream:  a mercenary pugilist who will not lead  but rule by obscurantism, oppressing the American people for another four years by engaging in battles already on her personal war agenda, thus inadvertently setting the stage for a Republican win.

Embarrassed repeatedly in the past by the death knell of her universal health care plan, Bill´s ongoing philandering, the Whitewater scandal, Vince Foster´s alleged suicide, illegal fundraising, travel gate and myriad other tales from the Clinton crypt, Hillary wants the ultimate masterdom as revenge against all those perceived impediments in her attempts to rise to power.   Feelings being mutual, Jonah Goldberg from the Los Angeles Times notes that Republicans "…will underscore that a vote for her is a vote for more of the same rancor."

As President, Hillary would potentially  bridle with tired bourgeois politics, while pushing her agendas on health care reform and education--reflections of her Marxist and Socialist ideologies touting more government and less individual involvement, according to late Clinton biographer, Barbara Olsen.  The rest of the time may be spent having to keep one eye (or several taxpayer supported staff members´ eyes) on her husband.

Bill Clinton would not be content subsisting as First Gentleman in the Hillary House.  The potential of a Bored Bill is frightening for many to contemplate and must give Hillary a palpitating pause as she, and we, can not afford any more scandals.   To combat future philandering and unchecked rhetoric Hillary would have to give Bill a job.  You get two for one whether you want it or not; so much for the need  of a Vice President then with the Clintonian  dynasty in force.  Bill´s role will be  a mean old Melanie to Hillary´s contentious Scarlett.

In the Machiavellian world of politics, a true leader emerges from behind the dark shadow of a charlatan, and his name is Obama.   A breath of fresh air in the stale, conspiratorial bipartisanship of Washington, he inspires each of us to stand together, do more and seek excellence ensuring a brighter future for all.  We see hope-- we feel hope--for the first time in a long time.   We see we can believe in ourselves, not because someone told us but because it is the truth.

The American people desperately need and deserve a fresh, new start.  The opportunity is upon us to affect change like we have never witnessed in our lifetimes.   Indeed, the whole world is watching with great interest.  It is time to think critically and carefully, weighing our options with great forethought, understanding what consequences our actions will have on us and the rest of the world.   We must all exercise our right to vote in this imperfect time:  to give a voice to those in need, to provide a solid future for our children and our children´s children, to enable this country to go forth as a leader of nations with dignity and humanity.

This is not Tara, and we do give a damn.
