McCain pulls a page from Clinton playbook
We watched as the Clintons did the same strategy in their campaign against Obama. This is what many call good ole Washington campaign strategy. Take a word or a sentence and turn it around to make your opponent appear to have meant something totally different. This keeps them off message and on constant rebuttal to something that isn´t true.
Romney like Obama both the so called Washington outsiders for their respective party´s who wish to bring change to the direction and style of Washington political scene have stumbled at times. After all most Americans claim they want a change. Despite this it is becoming clear that the voters still fall for the tactics of those with longevity in Washington. We need to look very carefully as we move on to Super Tuesday and realize that being the best at manipulating voters on the campaign trail does not mean being what is best for America.
The Republican Party seems to be lining up behind McCain and his moderate stance on government but toughness on war. Both Mayor Giuliani and Gov. Schwarzenegger have thrown their support behind McCain. While Romney stumbles to place the economy at the top of the Republican issues list. McCain keeps pressing at the need for military intervention throughout the world to protect Americans from terrorism as well as pointing to his years of experience in Washington.
On the Democratic side Team Clinton continues to change tactics as they fight for what they believe is their right full positions as leaders of the party. The Clintons claiming experience in Washington as their main campaign slogan. Sen. Obama has been a tough opponent who seems to be learning how to bob and weave the Washington tactics thrown at him by the Clintons. He is still on message and showing that he is tough enough for this fight for voters.
Both Democrats and Republicans have tough decisions on February 5th and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Americans have the choice of continued Washington insiders or two fresh new voices. Most Republicans seem content with politics as usual while the Democrats seem interested in real change with Obama or falling back on their heels and going for the insider and missing the opportunity to really move into the future by supporting a Clinton third term. Which Party is going to really represent what America wants and which one will continue to tell America what they want?
