Six Pack Abs - How to Get a Washboard Stomach
This isn't to say that you shouldn't do ab exercises. Because you definitely should! They are an important part of building a strong and sexy stomach, but you should not spend too much time doing them because you are simply wasting your energy. No matter how many crunches you do, you will never get a washboard stomach as long as fat is covering up your abdominal muscles. And too much stomach fat is definitely the culprit 99% of the time. What you are going to need to do is get rid of the fat around your belly. So the best tip I can offer at this point is to cut back on the crunches and other abdominal exercises, and start working on the following:
For exercise, you need to be focusing on strength and interval training if you ever want to achieve those ripped abs. This means working with weights for short sets with high intensity and brief rest periods between sets. You need to be working on the core muscles of your body, which are generally your large muscles, rather than worrying about smaller muscles such as your biceps and calves. Instead, you'll need to focus on your legs, back and chest. Working these muscles will strengthen your body's core, of which your abdomen is an important part, but the bonus is that it will increase your body's ability to burn fat by stimulating the metabolism and keeping it burning for longer periods of time.
You can't achieve six pack abs with just exercise alone though. No, I'm afraid that you are going to have to tackle your diet as well. The ripped appearance of a washboard stomach is, to a large degree, due to a reduction in overall body fat. You need to lower your body fat if you expect to see those washboard abs. So be sure that you don't neglect your diet while working on your resistance training program.
