Food or Fuel, And The Winner Is......……??
Several reliable scientific sources are beginning to question if there’s enough arable land in the world to sustain the demands for both food and fuel. Most agree there is not and food will most likely be the comity to suffer. The mathematics isn’t working out for vegetation to be converted to the form of alcohol and be sufficient to power all the worlds’ transportation needs and sustain the production of food necessary to feed mankind as well. That’s why God created carbon based fuels and gave man the knowledge to develop them.
Politics, religion and politically correct social programs aren’t the answer to any climate changes beyond the norm may or may not occur. As far back as the 1890 there were fears, first of global cooling then global warming. It was finally concluded weather ran in 30 year cycles. That being the case the global warming enthusiasts only have a few year to make their case until the global cooling crowd moves in and takes over. Fear is the mother milk of politics.
Climatology is still very much a science of speculation, the history of weather patterns isn’t exact enough to from reliable data. It seems for the world to break down in tears for what may or may not happen 50 years from now to say the least is theatric. What we’ve learned from past disasters once science understands the mechanics of the problem resolutions aren’t far behind. Usually that should be enough to dispel anyone from building the second Ark. Technology is the key to the future of the distribution of earth’s recourses not politics, religion or fear.
I remember when “Model T and Model A Fords” were commonplace, when Trains ran on stem and burned coal. Commercial Airlines and I are about the same age. Through technology not politics man travels in space as though it were the natural thing to do. There are only a limited number of politicians who can claim any expertise in the sciences yet those without credentials are the very ones leading us down the path to a dooms-day mentality. In the end they will be proven wrong by the sheer weight of technological advances, and then they will move on to the next presumed catastrophe. You can be assured there will always be the nay-sayers who thrive on scaring the hell out of little children and old people, [and the weak minded.]
We’ve experienced the cleaning up of nearly every facet of manufacturing’s effects on the environment just in my lifetime. I will gladly give the environmental groups credit for their efforts in improving life on earth if they will give those who’ve done the heavy lifting credit. However there comes a time when their work is done on a particular issue and they need to give up kicking one dead horse and find a new horse to kick. No one likes being called a bastard by another bastard. I have a feeling more may get accomplished if there were less hostility and more negations. A smile can be more effective than a thousand needles.
Every time I hear some one besmirching America it makes me want to pick up a shotgun and go Skunk hunting. In the past 55 years I’ve been in 27 countries on five continents, everywhere I’ve been I’ve seen America’s positive influences. To bring it down too the lowest possible denominator to my knowledge there’s only one Fast Food Franchise that originated in another country and came to America which would be Tim Horton’s from Canada. On the other hand we have sent the world our discoveries and now we are paying a price buying them back, [only in America.]
America leads the world on every level. That’s changing as we out-source more and more of our work load to third world countries. I recall in 1941 we were shipping scrap iron to Japan and they returned it in the form of bombs and bullets. I only point this out because I don’t think our government is vigilant enough in how they negotiate trade agreements. It’s not inconceivable it won’t happen again. It seems the advantage is always in favor of the other guys. No where is this more obvious than in the Kyoto Agreement on Global Warming. China and India the two countries who are the world’s largest polluters are given a pass on pollutions guidelines. Could it be everyone knows China and India won’t participate?
America doesn’t have problems America is fine. America has the Washingtonians, Politicians, Special Interests, Lobbyists and the Bureaucracy who create problems.
