OPEN TRYOUTS PLAYER MAKES FINAL ROSTER

Brandon McKinnon was the final player signed and completes the 23-man roster for the 2005-2006 season. The Burnaby, BC native attended the Jax Open Player Tryouts on Saturday, October 22nd with high hopes. He impressed the coaches enough to be invited back for Jax training camp. Throughout camp he impressed the coaches with his attitude and solid displays. McKinnon also made an impression at the Jax Exhibition Scrimmage on December 1st where he scored 2 goals and set up another. This was enough to convince the coaches to offer him his first professional lacrosse contract.

After signing for the Jax, McKinnon expressed his delight by saying "Since I was a kid I always dreamed of being a professional athlete, and on December 2nd that dream became a reality." McKinnon drove down to Portland from Vancouver every weekend to attend training camp just on the off chance that he could fulfill his dream, and this is exactly the kind of work ethic and attitude that impressed Head Coach Keenan and his staff.

McKinnon is excited about his upcoming rookie season and is looking forward to playing in front of the Portland fans again. McKinnon stated that "I knew after playing that night (exhibition scimmage), Portland was going to be one of the best lacrosse cities in the world. Playing in the NLL to me is the best thing in the entire world. I am so proud to be able to step on the floor and represent the Portland LumberJax and what they stand for."

Here is McKinnon's message to Portland LumberJax fans:

"Between the coaching staff and administrative staff everybody should be very excited for things to come because believe me these people work hard, and their dedication to the fans is number 1. I am very excited about my first year in the National Lacrosse League and I promise that I will give the fans, teammates, coaching staff everything I've got every second I'm on the floor. I am very excited and thrilled to be a part of the Portland LumberJax organization. Thanks!"
