business marketing like a stone cold warrior

In the movie, "It Happened One Night" in 1934 Clark Gable peeled a raw carrot with a pen knife and then munched upon it as he attempted to teach Claudette Colbert how to hitchhike. That scene inspired Warner Brothers to give Bugs Bunny his signature carrot chomp.

This just goes to prove you never know where a jackpot idea is going to come from.

But, there are ways to turn your mind into a high frequency antenna which is virtually always alert for facts and ideas that can be turned into a financial goldmine.

Robert Smith, president of Robert Smith & Associates PR, says, "There are 5 people you meet in the course of business I've discovered who will help you spark new ideas, build your business, and profit from hidden opportunities."

Here they are:

1) Mentor/coach -- If you are smart you will seek out mentors or coaches before you start your business. I have a mentor named Chet Holmes of http://www.howtodoublesales.com that I talk to once a week. Mentors should be people who have already been where you are going and can point you in the right direction. Let's face it. If Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods had mentors what makes you think you don't need one?

2) Customer -- As defined by the dictionary "customer" means "One that buys goods or services." These are people who may or not benefit your business long term.

3) Clients -- The dictionary defines "client" as "One that depends on the protection of another." This is much different then a customer. What person wouldn't want to do business on an ongoing basis from someone who wants to protect them?

4) Competition -- Everyone seems to hate their competitors but this mindset is totally unnecessary. Your competitor is probably just like you. He works hard. He has overhead to meet. He wants to grow his business. Why not approach your competition and offer to send each other sales leads that you couldn't close for a fee or percentage. For instance, a car salesman who doesn't sell a car and sees a potential customer leaving the car lot can say "Since you're looking for a SUV and we don't sell SUVs I've made arrangements with ABC Motors and if you go over there now and buy an SUV you will save $500."

5) Protege -- The last person you will meet in business if you are truly on the right path is a protege. Fame is good. Money is good. Success is good. But once you die your ideas, talent, knowledge, and expertise dies with you unless you pass it on.

The book "The Millionaire Maker" by Loral Langemeier talks about having a team approach to building a successful business and that being a Lone Ranger is outdated so open your eyes and recognize the 5 people in your life.
