Diana Bush-Harris to sing at Walker Theatre in Indianapolis!
The production written by Indianapolis-area resident and Gary native playwright Vernon A. Williams--features the comedy and drama of relationships in the new millennium and includes stunning praise dance as well as stirring vocal solos. "Sonnets for my Sistahs" is unique in that all of its dialogue is poetry, taken from the book of the same title.
Director Charla Thomas (auditorium manager at Broad Ripple High School) says "Sonnets...has somewhat of an Urban Shakespearean feel to it." She added that the premise of the play is the question, "if women ever persuaded men to open up and speak candidly from the heart about relationships, what would they say?"
Bush-Harris was selected after the original cast was chosen when Director Charla Thomas witnessed Diana’s delivery in song at a Mt. Paran Baptist Church service. “Diana is an anointed, awe inspiring, artist that needs to be heard…Her delivery is sure to usher in the Spirit”.
I was pleasantly surprised that this opportunity opened up. I’m convinced it was by Divine design” says Bush-Harris who has desired to do some non-traditional forms of touching lives through her ministry. She has also been slated to write inspirational songs to help inspire children to positively approach I-Step Testing for the coming year.
Show times will be at 7:00 pm on Saturday and 4:00 pm on Sunday. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The Walker Theatre is located at 617 Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis. Other Fort Wayne natives included in casting and music are Nakia and Tyrone Tolbert.
