New Website Devised to Educate Consumers and Protect Major Winemaking Regions

The Center for Wine Origins in Washington D.C. launched its three year education campaign to address growing consumer intrest in leading winemaking regions.

A surprising national survey revealed that 57% of American wine consumer believes that the wine growing region and, winemaking location is one of the most important factors when making purchases. These two factors even outranked price,brand and recommendations from others when making quality wine purchases.

The Center for Wine Origins site is currently recieving 100s of questions per day at the Wine Guru portion of the site. The most frequently asked questions are in regards to Champagne. Some examples are, "Can sparkling wine legally be called Champagne if it does not come from Champagne,France?" and "What makes Champagne from Champagne, France different from other sparkling wines?"
