Cindy Sheehan Quits America--Bye

Cindy Sheehan seems to hate America now, so she is leaving her protests behind and going home to California. In her open resignation letter on the Daily Kos, she says, "Good-bye America ...you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it."

Her "Goodbye America" is a switch from what she said less than a year ago. She previously said, "I could leave if I wanted to and, in fact, have received many offers to be an ex-patriot in many friendly countries. However, I want to stay and fight for my country."

Sheehan says the Peace Movement is bad, the political parties are bad, and everyone who spoke against her are "narrow-minded." Well, Seems the one thing all of them have in common now is that they don't want Sheehan around. So, she did get rivals to agree.

The problem with Sheehan is that her cause got distorted. She made it a show by aligning herself with some of the worst people she could find. How President Hugo Chavez got involved in her cause leaves one to wonder. He makes leftist Americans seem tame. He is the protégé of Fidel Castro, and she thought it was ok to have a meeting with him; a meeting that could be considered almost treasonous.

Her resignation letter blames everybody for her decision to leave the limelight, but the reality is people were no longer supporting her. The Anti-war cause has supporters, but her as the spokesperson was becoming a liability. She said, "I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes."

The Democratic Underground has made an official letter calling for her to stay, and saying that she should be able to take some criticism as a public figure. Apparently not, since she was doing this all for her son. It is like the get out of jail free card.

She claims that America killed her son, but what did she do to his legacy? Instead of letting him be the hero, she made him into a cause and then quit.

Whether she really really leaves or not is immaterial, because to the hundreds of parents out there who lost children in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, she gave the ultimate insult. She said it was for "nothing" which is a lie straight from the pit of hell.
