Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-up 2.27.07

Thomas Keister
Tommy "T-Dogg" Foreman vs. Matt Maverick: T-Dogg, the way-ward "relative" of boxing great George Foreman seemed a little shell-shocked as he made his way into the CCW Arena for action against Matt Maverick to open tonight's event. Armed with his trademark boxing gloves, Foreman might have been hoping to score a little exposure for his side project, the world-renowned "T-Dogg" grill. Back in action, Maverick seems to be in limbo as the past few weeks have not managed to provide that breakthrough win I've been predicting, but that has not damaged his popularity with the Portland crowd, which had packed the rafters for this highly anticipated line-up of matches tonight!

Not off to a good start, Foreman caught the wrath of the crowd early, as they were already chanting "T-Dogg" sucks, as he stumbled into the ring. Maverick started out strong, taking Foreman to the mat and throwing in a little embarrassment to boot, mocking his opponent before following up with a hip toss and a body slam. Trying to regroup, Foreman took to the floor, but with Maverick in pursuit, the wheels were spinning, as T-Dogg used the moment to bait Maverick for a cheap shot. Landing a couple of hard jabs, Foreman quickly disposed of the gloves, unloading with more bare knuckle shots, using a clothesline and a suplex to gain a near-fall.

The "T-Dogg" sucks chant was looking to be a moot point, as Foreman looked dominant as he measured Maverick for a legdrop to score another near fall. At the two count, T-Dogg began arguing his case with Jeremy MacKenzie, to no avail, which almost cost him, as a quick-thinking Maverick rolled him up with a schoolboy. Not deterred for long, T-Dogg kept the pressure up until a neckbreaker by Maverick left both men on the canvas trying to beat MacKenzie's ten count. While Foreman shook off a rocky start to impress in this match, the second wind for Maverick was all he needed, as he would score the pin shortly thereafter with another neckbreaker. For Foreman, it was back to the locker room to try and pinpoint where he lost his edge in this showdown, but for Maverick, it was another step toward the next level, and little did Maverick know that his night was not quite over yet...

Winner of the Match: Matt Maverick, by pinfall.

Nic Noble vs. Guido Andretti: Ever one to stir things up, first Guido refused to make his entrance, informing the sound crew that he wasn't coming out first, and to "never play his music first" ever again! One of the advantages of my location in the press box, I guess. Feeling it today, Guido milked his entrance for all it was worth, enraging the CCW faithful, accustomed to the stall tactics Andretti loves at the beginning of each match. Nic Noble, Guido's opponent tonight, looked on passively, familiar with Andretti's quirks as he made his Classic Championship Wrestling return.

While Noble broke loose at the bell, Guido put the brakes on fairly quickly, mounting offense of his own, only to have Noble reverse fortunes just as soon. This was not going to be the easy night Andretti may have envisioned on his way to the Arena, and as he tried further to get into Noble's head, he slapped the big man hard, which definitely ignited a spark in his opponent, who fired back with forearms, only to be devastated by a patented Guido clothesline, nearly getting taken out of his boots in the process.

Going to a series of chokes, Guido soon switched to a rear chinlock, keeping Noble and his size advantage grounded. Fighting loose from the hold with a set of elbows, Noble was ready to get back into the match, leveling Andretti with a running forearm, taking Guido to the ring apron. Trying to bring him back in, Noble caught a hangman on the top rope, with Guido showing his ring presence by sneaking back in to steal the pin, courtesy of extra leverage from the ropes! Guido may have snuck one by Noble, but something tells me Noble's not ready to move past Andretti just yet. Stay tuned on this one...

Winner of the Match: Guido Andretti, by pinfall.

Elmore Fudd (w/Mrs. Fudd) vs. Lincoln Walker: Delayed a week, Elmore Fudd was back, wife in tow, to exact the beatdown he had promised CCW newcomer Lincoln Walker. Walker, itching for the fight he'd been challenged to since saving Matt Maverick from a post-match beatdown two weeks ago, came to the ring trying to keep one eye on Fudd and one eye on Fudd's wife, leery of what her presence at ringside can mean to the outcome of a match.

At the bell, it was Walker in the lead, as he used his speed to confound Fudd, frustrating him early on. AS expected, Mrs. Fudd would play a part in this match right off the bat, as she attempted to trip Walker, who would then pursue her around the ring. Just as Walker was going to deliver some payback, Fudd came up from behind, but Walker was ready, ducking the attack. While that didn't quite pan out the way the Fudds had hoped, the moment did provide enough cover for Fudd to take control of the match.

Walker would rally back, hitting a spear and following it up with a clothesline to battle back to even ground, slapping on a Texas Cloverleaf for good measure! As Fudd grasped for the ropes in agony, the end of Lincoln Walker was unfolding, although no one could have expected it, given his opponent's position at the time. As Fudd made the ropes, he was passed a foreign object as referee Paul Wood ordered Walker to break the hold. A veteran official, Wood may have felt his zebra senses tingling, as he confronted Fudd, suspicious of his behavior. This was what the couple had been waiting for, as Mrs. Fudd slid into the ring to low blow Walker, allowing Fudd to score the pin and put Walker away!

Winner of the Match: Elmore Fudd, by pinfall.

After the match, the game plan seemed to be awfully similar for Walker as it did for Matt Maverick a couple of weeks ago, as Fudd and wife prepared to continue the beatdown, Maverick raced from the back, chair in hand, ready to have Walker's back this week! Having seen and heard enough, Commissioner Chris Alexander emerged from the back, ordering a tag team match for next week, with Walker and Maverick teaming up to face Fudd and partner. When Fudd pointed out he didn't have a partner, Alexander said not to worry, he found him a partner that was already used to sticking their nose in not only Fudd's business, but everyone else's as well, and that partner was none other than SueAnn - Mrs. Elmore Fudd! The look on both of their face was priceless as both Maverick and Walker will get not only a chance for revenge on Fudd, but both Fudds!

Jebediah Blackhawk & Brandon Scott vs. The HNIC (Apollo & JB Thunder): In this big rematch from last week, Jeb and Brandon were hunting for a win to even the scorecard, as well as a big win over a venerable tag team that would not doubt improve their stock as it pertains to the CCW Tag Team titles. With the gold never far from their minds as well, The HNIC hit the arena ready to repeat their success from last week, right down to arguing with referee Paul Wood over the notorious baseball bat JB Thunder brings with him to ringside.

Starting out much as the match did last week, Jeb and Brandon were impressive early, making quick tags and operating with a good flow, only to fall victim to gravity. A bad landing may have tweaked or re injured the still-recovering Scott's knee, leaving him vulnerable as the HNIC quickly went into double team mode. Zeroing in on the knee, Apollo and JB wreaked havoc on Scott, drawing in Blackhawk to tie up Paul Wood and leave Scott virtually defenseless. Taunting Scott, Apollo was clearly showing his sadistic streak, imploring with the young grappler to make it back to his corner before, well...before cutting him off at the knees...no pun intended...Going to a single leg grapevine, it was nearly curtains for Scott, as the HNIC was not about to let up for a second, not as long as they had the wounded man in the ring!

Escaping at last, Scott would make the tag to Blackhawk, but it was more than apparent that Scott was going to be unable to continue with the match, as CCW officials and ringside security helped him to the back. Now without a partner, Blackhawk was at the mercy of Apollo and JB Thunder, who last time it was checked during routine maintenance, had none. Things were looking bad for Blackhawk indeed until Kousin Krazy stunned the crowd by dashing from backstage to jump up in his corner, begging him to make the tag!

Finally making it back to his corner, Blackhawk made the tag, as as Kousin Krazy was unloading on both Apollo and JB, from out of nowhere, Tim the Baker and Bad Medicines #6 & #9 stormed the ring, jumping both Blackhawk and Krazy, leaving Wood no choice but to disqualify The HNIC. The decision didn't seem to bother Apollo and JB, who slipped out of the ring and to the back and the masked men hit the ring, figuring discretion is the better part of valor. Turning the tables on the Bad Medicines, Blackhawk and Krazy soon cleared the ring, but inviting both men back in for some more, if they were so ready to fight.

Commandeering the microphone, the Bad Medicines said they were merely in the back, 'minding their own business,' when they saw Kousin Krazy in the building! Obviously, there is some history between either the Bad Medicines or Tim the Baker and Kousin Krazy that is just now coming to light! Warning him of exactly whose territory he was in, he had better watch his back!

That was no problem at all for either man, as they were eager for a match at the upcoming March 3 Saturday night event! Letting Tim the Baker and his masked tag team know they should 'brace themselves,' Jebediah Blackhawk looked like he couldn't wait to handle this problem on March 3!

Winners of the Match: Jebediah Blackhawk & Kousin Krazy (substituting for an injured Brandon Scott), by disqualification.

Just as it looked like live action was going to pause for the intermission, who should pop up, but Dynamite Derrick, still in a sling and still as...ahem...popular as ever in CCW! The former champ was all about business tonight, calling out both Commissioner Chris Alexander and Marcus, after recapping his anger at being on the shelf, as he had 'carried' the company! Alexander would come out to the ring, and after repeating his 'carrying the company' remark, Derrick added he had a stack of medical bills as high as the eye, and that "someone is going to pay for these." Not elaborating any further, Derrick tossed the mike at Alexander and made his way to the back. A cryptic and uncharacteristically short appearance by the former CCW Champion, who will no doubt be scheming away at regaining the championship upon his return, as now his quest is to become the first two-time CCW Heavyweight Champion!

CCW Heavyweight Champion Vic The Bruiser vs. Kliff Hanger:

Kliff hit the ring nearly salivating at the thought of not only getting his hands on Vic, but having a shot at the CCW Heavyweight title to boot! The #1 contender was all business and working his gameface overtime as Vic made his way to the ring. Kliff was so ready, he could barely be restrained before Vic had a chance to inform him that this was not going to be for the championship! Blaming the same contract ryder that is forcing Johnny Spade to wait, Vic said the same thing applied to Kliff!

Asking him if he was really going to hide behind paperwork, Kliff said he'd wait, but when (not if) he won, Vic had to make a decision as to who was going to get the title shot, even adding he would go all the way back to square one if he lost!

With that in mind, it was all Kliff at the bell, a whirling dervish rocking Vic with at least A-G of the wrestling hold library before Vic escaped to the outside to regroup. Re-entering the ring for a test of strength, Vic wins the first round, only to have the Black Redneck reverse the knuckle lock into a pinning predicament! Trying to stay a step ahead of Kliff, Vic managed to reverse that into a pin attempt of his own, before Kliff hit a baseball slide as Vic was on the floor again. Baiting Kliff into a cheap shot, Vic headed off for the locker room, which as recent memory has shown, is not a good thing for anyone involved. Coming back with his contract, Vic proceeded to cram it down the throat of Kliff Hanger, laying in with some tremendous chops and hard right hands.

Not satisfied with his offense at that point, Vic then went to the boot for a foreign object. While it was hard to tell at my vantage point what it was, before long, the crowd was shocked to learn that Vic was using a cigarette lighter on Kliff! Wearing the challenger down, Vic went for a cocky cover, but Kliff was not going to be that easy to keep down. Adding a big elbow drop, Vic went for the pin again, but got another two-count. Vic's temper began to flare a bit as he argued with referee Jeremy MacKenzie, but this nearly cost him not once, but twice, as Kliff would capitalize on the moments, scoring near falls of his own with a sunset flip and a quick cover on Vic after MacKenzie knocked The Bruiser to the canvas during a heated exchange!

Going to a deep rear chinlock, the veteran Vic was using his weight advantage to smother Kliff, but Kliff would summon the strength for one last rally, as he would hit the Koal Miner Kick on the second try, staggering Vic for a two-count that had the packed house on its feet! Ever aware of where he is in the ring, Vic found himself in the corner as Kliff charged in with shoulders. As Jeremy MacKenzie was trying to separate the two, Kliff fell victim to a chain shot, courtesy of Vic. Three seconds later, Vic the Bruiser had done it again, only this time sending Kliff Hanger all the way back to square one! Not content with just that, Vic would then deliver the Vic Driver to Kliff on the CCW Heavyweight championship belt!

Winner of the Match: Vic the Bruiser, by pinfall.

Main Event - Winner Takes All for the CCW Tag Team Championship: CCW Tag Team Champion Jack Black & Damien Divine vs. CCW Tag Team Champion Vito Andretti & "Smooth" Johnny Spade (w/Miss Holly Wood): All the talk and intrigue had led up to this moment - the winner of the match would claim both halves of the CCW Tag Team Championship, and with Mickey O'Dell brought in as a Special Guest Referee, neither side of the wayward champions were expecting an easy night. As Jack Black and Damien Divine made their entrance, it looked apparent the new duo looked to dominate not only the match at hand, but the tag team ranks in CCW for some time to come!

Andretti and Spade, along with the lovely Miss Holly Wood of course, literally brought the capacity crowd to their feet as the trio hit ringside. Mickey O'Dell was already having problems keeping order between Black and Andretti, and the match hadn't even started yet! As he called for the bell to officially open the bout, Vito started out with Damien Divine, looking sound as he tagged in Spade, but Divine would put his back into it, powering the smaller man into the corner, but missing the splash attempt that followed. Throwing his hand in to help, Black wound up connecting on Divine with a splash, as a speedy Johnny Spade then mounted the top turnbuckle to deliver a dropkick to both men! Vito would make the tag in, but Black high-tailed it from the ring, tagging in Divine on the way by. Both teams were finding it difficult to take or keep the advantage, as both were exercising quick tags and maintaining a solid pace.

The law of averages controls everything in the end, however, and when you're Johnny Spade in the corner of Jack Black and Damien Divine, the odds, no matter what the average is, is not looking good. Slugging back at Black, Spade tagged in Vito again, only to see the same result - Black bailing from the ring and tagging in Damien Divine! While the tension has been considerable, it was hard to tell who wanted the two to lock up more, Vito or the CCW faithful! Getting their hands back on Spade, Black and Divine turned up the heat, running like a fine German auto as they flat mugged Spade, with a helpless Andretti looking on from his corner!

Spade is never short of resilience, but mounting Black in the corner for the "count along" punches was merely symbolic, as Black then tried to affix the former CCW Champion to the canvas like a postage stamp! Keeping a revolving door of fresh partner in the ring, Jack Black would grow angry as Mickey O'Dell proved as honest as advertised, counting another 2 3/4 count on Spade before Black switched gears and went to the bear hug! Having had enough, Black gave Spade the BlackOut, but it took a lot from him as well, but he was able to make the tag to Damien Divine, who would then put Spade down hard with the Divine Intervention! Things were looking bleak for Spade as Black mounted the top rope, but there was just enough left in the tank of "Smooth" Johnny Spade, and Black found nothing but empty canvas when his front senton played out! This would be the moment Spade needed at long last, finally making his way over to tag in Vito!

No one in the CCW Arena, let alone Johnny Spade, could have seen this coming. After making his way into the ring, Andretti took stock of the situation, almost cornered with Mickey O'Dell looking on, and then the two men suddenly turned on Johnny Spade! It was all a set-up! With Black holding Spade up, Vito delivered the spear, as Miss Holly Wood made her way into the ring. Slapping Damien Divine, the beautiful blonde was about to have another bad Tuesday night in Portland! After being on the receiving end of a brutal powerslam by Vito, Miss Holly Wood was simply laid waste as Jack Black followed it up with a top rope splash!

As the pounding on the walls proved to be the entrance for Johnny Spade, which had been blocked off as part of the plan, grew louder and more desperate, Mickey O'Dell took to the microphone to explain that he and the Fat N The Furious were both responsible for bringing Spade to CCW, and now, Spade had 'forgotten his place!' WIth O'Dell and Vito stretching Spade out on the canvas, Black would deliver another crushing top rope splash! The fans were shocked and angry as the four then stacked up Miss Holly Wood and Johnny Spade like cordwood to deliver what had to be the 'kill' shot, but as Black was ascending the ropes, the locker room had taken the hard way to ringside, circling the Arena and running in through the audience to prevent any further damage!

With this shocking turn of events, has O'Dell Enterprises re-emerged on the scene to run roughshod over Classic Championship Wrestling? With Damien Divine clearly on the same page, and questions continuing to abound regarding Jack Black's recent presence at ringside during Vic the Bruiser matches, are we seeing the start of a powertrip in CCW? Not the least of which is the state of Johnny Spade and Miss Holly Wood, neither of whom were that far off being hospitalized at the hands of Vic! The only true way is to stay mindful of 7PM, when doors open for the Tuesday night tradition that is CCW championship wrestling!
