Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-up 2.13.07

Thomas Keister
Jebediah Blackhawk & Brandon Scott vs. The Blackhearts (w/Tim the Baker):

Another masked duo debuted tonight in CCW under the tutelage of the ever-present Tim the Baker in The Blackhearts. While the masked men presented an impressive pair of heavyweights, the crowd did not share the same sentiment, saving the ovation for the tandem of Jebediah Blackhawk and Brandon Scott. Scott, opening the match with Blackheart #2, seemed to be quickly coming back into form after a knee injury derailed the rookie's fairly successful start to his career last year. Showing a great center of gravity and strength edge, Scott bested #2 in back-to-back displays of power before tagging in Blackhawk, who quickly made the masked man a victim of gravity once again, beeling him from the corner halfway across the ring!

Blackheart #1 made his way into the match, and using some double-team tactics, The Blackhearts took control of the match, using the numbers game to the fullest as Tim the Baker would take advantage of any opening to throw his hand into the action. Desperate on the ring apron to save his partner, Scott fell victim to several cheap shots, baiting him into the ring and only furthering the punishment on Blackhawk. The break Scott needed came as Blackhawk ducked a splash from #2 to make the tag. The rally would be short-lived, however, as The Blackhearts would show the experienced dynamic their team held in comparison to Blackhawk and Scott, quickly turning the tables and putting Scott down for the count with a unique finish that I hope to have identified by next week's show. Maybe I can call one of Tim the Baker's elves. Hope he can reach the phone.

Winner of the Match: The Blackhearts, by pinfall.

Elmore Fudd (w/Elma Fudd) vs. Matt Maverick:

On his way to the ring, Fudd looked as though his mood matched the weather in the Ohio valley, and this was quickly confirmed as he commandeered the microphone to call out Matt Maverick for "the beating of a lifetime" in this return match from two weeks ago. Starting off strong, Fudd followed up a headlock with a shoulder block, but Maverick was more than willing to return the favor, throwing a shoulder block of his own at Fudd and capitalizing to take control of the match.

Never more than a moment away from interjecting herself into a match-up, Elma Fudd tripped up Maverick for the second match in a row, and for the second match in a row, this worked out textbook, as Fudd took the lead, with the Mrs. continuing to make her presence known, distracting referee Paul Wood so Fudd could launch Maverick over the top rope in clear violation of CCW regulations. Sharing in the marital duties, Fudd would then capture Wood's attention so Elma could put the boots to Maverick on the outside. A suplex back into the ring would lead to a near-fall for Fudd, as Maverick was struggling to gain even ground, no small task given the methodical attack Fudd brought with him into tonight's match-up. Battling out of a rear chinlock, Maverick would find he who lives by the elbow dies by the elbow, as Fudd used a back elbow to stop Maverick in his tracks.

After a second near-fall, the aggravation was climbing high for Fudd, who again dumped his opponent to the outside. Maverick would again attempt to get back into the match, hitting a dropkick and a flying forearm, but by this point, the Fudds were ready to launch their master plan. Grabbing a chair from ringside, Fudd would argue with Paul Wood for control of the weapon as Elma slid under the bottom rope to deliver a low blow to Maverick, setting him up for The Buckshot and the three count by the wily veteran. On any given day, Matt Maverick can more than hold up his end of business in the squared circle, but tonight was simply not his night, as the Fudds are not part of the 'fool me twice' crowd.

For the Fudds, however, business was not done for them, as they continued the assault on Maverick even after the bell, prompting announcer Lincoln Walker to hit the ring with a steel chair of his own! Incensed, Fudd took the microphone and informed Walker they were going to have a match next week, and that Walker, in fact, was "next!" Does this mean that the match between the two a couple of weeks ago was just the tip of the iceberg? Hard to say, but expect sparks to be flying next week when Fudd and Walker collide for a second go-around!

Winner of the Match: Elmore Fudd, by pinfall.

Apollo vs. CCW Tag Team Champion Vito Andretti:

The fans knew to expect a punishing match between these two, as Apollo was out to even the score from two weeks ago. Vito, on the other hand, has got to be wondering if the extra pair of eyes for the back of his head are in from The Sharper Image. Normally, a wrestler with gold around his waist is used to competing with one eye over his shoulder, but when those in pursuit include your tag team championship partner, paranoia takes on a whole new meaning.

The match set an even pace at the beginning, with neither man able to establish a solid advantage. Ominously, Jack Black came to ringside once again, ostensibly to just watch Vito's performance, but given the way his observation has went down in the last couple of weeks, the big picture was not looking good for Andretti.

As Andretti was building steam, he scored a swinging neckbreaker, trying to end it for Apollo just as in their last encounter. This would bring Jack Black onto the ring apron, and as the Tag Team champs argued away, Apollo was recovering to measure Vito for a cheap shot, knocking him to the arena floor. Taking the fight to the outside, Apollo drew on his ring presence, smartly breaking the referee's ten count on numerous occasions to extend the beatdown on Vito. While I couldn't tell from my vantage point, but one would have to assume that Jack Black was thoroughly enjoying watching the dissection of his soon-to-be former partner at the hands of Apollo. That enjoyment proved to be short-lived, however, as Vito caught the one moment he needed after action resumed in the ring, leveling the HNIC powerhouse with a big-time spear to nab the pin for a second match in a row against one of CCW's toughest competitors!

While Black certainly didn't look happy over Andretti killing his buzz midstream, little did he know that Vito was not done in that department just yet!

Winner of the Match: Vito Andretti, by pinfall.

Guido Andretti vs. El Cardinal:

With his usual brand of effervescence, Guido Andretti rolled back to Classic Championship Wrestling for a one-on-one matchup with the returning EUCLL grappler El Cardinal. Taking the time to get to know his fans a little better, Guido obviously got under the skin of the masked man, who jumped Andretti from behind to kickstart the match. Returning fire, and then some, Andretti battled El Cardinal all the way to the back, leaving referee Paul Wood no alternative but to count both men out!

Result of the Match: both men counted out.

Marcus then entered the ring, microphone in hand, to get some kind of solid answer from Jack Black and Vito Andretti regarding the state of the Feb 27 match to determine which Fat N The Furious member will take both halves of the CCW Tag Team titles with a new partner. Black said that he indeed had a new partner, although the weather was preventing them from being in attendance, not to worry, Black's end of the match was signed, sealed, and delivered.

Vito admitted that he had not found a partner yet, but he had found a "special" referee to ensure that everything went down legit, and that man was none other than Mickey O'Dell, the erstwhile manager of The Fat N The Furious! A shocked Black started to respond to this as O'Dell entered the ring, but O'Dell snatched the mike away, wasting little time in laying it all out there! What he had seen happen to The Fat N The Furious during his sabbatical to attend to matters at O'Dell Enterprises had left him upset and sickened! If it was going to go down like this, O'Dell said, then he was going to be the man who called the match, as only someone who had been up and down the road with the FNF could call it right down the middle, adding in a cryptic moment that February 27, everybody would see who the true strength of the FNF was!

Black, taken aback by this shocking move from Andretti, no doubt has the wheels spinning overtime to develop a contingency plan to handle this, as whatever tricks Mickey O'Dell hasn't learned simply hasn't been developed yet! The split of the CCW Tag Team Champions continues to generate intrigue, and this latest twist can only serve to make the match all that much more personal between Andretti and Black in just two weeks!

Loser Leaves CCW Match: The Prophet vs. "Playboy" Scott Hayes (w/JessieBell):

The feud between The Prophet and Scott Hayes, along with JessieBell, has been as quick and violent as any feud in recent memory in Classic Championship Wrestling, and the endgame was already upon both men, as the loser of this match has to leave CCW!

As vocal as ever, Scott Hayes started off by taking to the microphone and letting the fans know he was not about to put up with any chants for The Prophet, which had much the same effect it usually does. The Prophet hit ringside seeming to clearly enjoy his newfound popularity with the CCW faithful, entering with enough momentum behind him to make Hayes somewhat reluctant to lock up at the bell! Solving that problem for the Playboy, Prophet went to town on Hayes, showering him with offense before a rake to the eyes nearly allowed Hayes to escape the ring to regroup.

Relentless, Prophet hounded Hayes, focusing on the left arm. If JessieBell was panicked at ringside, she didn't show it in between verbal sparring sessions with the fans in the first two rows. Picking her moment, she waited until Prophet has ascended the top rope before tripping him up, straddling him in the corner and softening up his left knee in the process. Zeroing in on the knee immediately, Hayes looked to put the match to bed with a figure four leglock, using some assistance from JessieBell to increase the leverage and torture his rival! Finally, referee Jeremy MacKenzie caught the beautiful, if conniving valet in the act, forcing Hayes to relinquish the hold, but one had to wonder how much damage was done in the process. Hitting a sunset flip from out of nowhere, Prophet nearly caught Hayes off guard, but the Playboy was quick to cut the comeback off in its tracks, scoring several near falls in the process.

Fed up, Hayes grabbed a chair, but all he got for his troubles was a huge boot from Prophet square into the chair. This could have spelled disaster for Hayes, but he recovered to hit a dropkick to the weakened knee of Prophet, taking the lead once again. An Irish whip ended quite badly for one man, but the problem was the man was referee Jeremy MacKenzie! While Prophet would cover Hayes for at least a five count, referee Paul Wood ran out, but was checking on MacKenzie's condition, missing the pin attempt. Seizing the opportunity, JessieBell would enter the ring to attack Prophet, but wound up crashing headlong into a steel chair Hayes had wedged in a corner. Prophet would then score the fall on Hayes, as referee Paul Wood made it from the back to make the count in place of the fallen Jeremy MacKenzie!

Outraged and full of excuses, Hayes refused to accept what had just happened, saying that they were going nowhere, but Prophet helped the crowd say farewell, leading them in a chant of "na na na na..." as the duo made their final exit. While The Prophet had a smile a mile wide watching JessieBell leave, one could probably make a safe bet that both Scott Hayes and JessieBell will be back sometime down the road, and lord only knows what they will have up their sleeves when they show up!

Winner of the Match: The Prophet, by pinfall.

Kliff Hanger vs. CCW Tag Team Champion Jack Black:

With the Tag Team Championship to be decided February 27, the big man came into action against Kliff Hanger no doubt with the shocking reemergence of Mickey O'Dell on the scene still heavy in the back of his mind. While he may not have been wearing his heart on his sleeve, "The Black Redneck," as usual, had treats in store for the younger fans in attendance for this pre-Valentine's Day event. Zeroing in on Black, Kliff knew this was going to be an uphill battle from the word 'go,' and Black proved that right from the opening bell, overwhelming Kliff with sheer strength. Trying to rely on his speed, Kliff found that too was not going to be any small task, no pun intended. No matter what he threw at the big man, Black was not slowing down for long. An open-handed slap by Kliff proved a fateful decision, as Black would drive him from the ring with a running low dropkick. Coming back into the ring via a sunset flip, Kliff avoided catastrophe, rolling out of the way as Black tried to squash the pin attempt. No offense to Kliff Hanger, but a sunset flip? On Jack Black? That's like trying to stop a Volkswagen with a flyswatter! Making the best of a rare moment with Black off his feet, Kliff landed a couple of elbow drops to score a near fall, but Black still had plenty in the tank.

Unfortunately for Kliff, this would leave him pretty much at Black's mercy for the remainder of the match. Rallying back with a pair of right hands, Kliff would then meet the grinder, as Black would pull him up from a three count not only after a BlackOut, but a Vader bomb as well, thinking back to the slap in the face from earlier! Climbing to the top, the big man put The Black Redneck out of his misery with a bang, devastating him with a top rope splash! Three count - Black.

Winner of the Match: Jack Black, by pinfall.

Main Event: CCW Heavyweight Championship - CCW Champion "Smooth" Johnny Spade (w/Miss Holly Wood) defending against Vic The Bruiser:

Looking to finish what he has been hell bent on doing since returning to CCW a few weeks ago, Vic was more than ready to get his hands on "Smooth" Johnny Spade, vengeful or otherwise, this time in the ring and with the CCW Heavyweight title at stake, no less.

Spade and Miss Holly Wood, both returning from attacks by Vic, were eager to wreak revenge on the challenger, as Spade came out of his corner like a house on fire at the bell, swarming over Vic with chops, hard right hands, and even a Lou Thesz Press for good measure, driving The Bruiser to the outside of the ring. Unfortunately for Johnny Spade, the arena floor is dangerous territory, and the champion was now fighting the guy who drew the map! Taking control, Vic threw Spade back into the ring, only to have a resilient champ fire right back, landing a couple of punches on the way to a middle rope dropkick! Threatening to walk out on the match, Vic made it to the backstage entrance, only to have a change of heart and return, concealing a club he'd stashed behind the curtain! Referee Jeremy MacKenzie was oblivious to this, as he was attending to Miss Holly Wood, every bit as irate as the fans over the "departure" of Vic The Bruiser! Landing a shot to the midsection, Vic would batter Spade outside the ring until MacKenzie intervened, taking the match back inside, Vic laid into Spade with shoulder blocks in the corner. For that matter, the challenger laid into the champion with everything he could get his hands on, including the textbook of a child near the concession stand!

When all of this failed to produce the three count, Vic skipped turning up the volume, opting for breaking the knob of instead. Locking Spade into the Tree of Woe, he would first hit him with a brutal running splash before grabbing a microphone to give Spade the option of just saying "Vic's the Man" to make it stop. Spade tried, but the best he could come up with was "screw you," leaving Vic no other choice but to prolong the violence, working at a fever pitch to barely allow Spade the blink of an eye to grab his bearings.

Spade would find his second (or third) wind, but just when a break seemed around the corner, both men wiped each other out with a double clothesline. Struggling against the ten count, Spade made it to his feet first landing a couple of shots before Vic low-blowed him right in front of referee Jeremy MacKenzie. MacKenzie started to protest, but Vic stopped that before it could start by slugging MacKenzie! Miss Holly Wood entered the ring to hit Vic with a chair, but her 110 pound frame didn't quite pack enough wallop to affect Vic. Turning his attention on her, Vic took the chair away, but before Miss Holly Wood could escape the ring, Vic pulled her back in by her hair. Taking her off the ropes for what would have been a clothesline bordering on assault, Vic was definitely caught off guard when Holly Wood ducked the final straw, delivering a spinning head scissors to The Bruiser instead!

Spade would use the breakdown to his own ends, hitting the Spadeton, but before he could take the match, to the shock of everybody, Jack Black stormed the ring, grabbing Spade and delivering the BlackOut, allowing Vic to score the pin and become the NEW Classic Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Champion! It had taken damn near everything that wasn't bolted down, but Vic had not only stolen the belt from Spade, but left him laying once again!

With Vic The Bruiser kicking off what may be the most unpredictable heavyweight title reign in CCW's young history, and the as yet undetermined state of the CCW Tag Team championship, 2007 has already shaped up to be CCW's biggest year yet, and with new contenders emerging on the scene in addition to the already stellar roster the promotion, anybody lacking for action on Tuesday nights need look no further than the CCW Arena.
