Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-Up 1.30.07

Thomas Keister
CCW 1.30.07

Hitting the ring, Commissioner Chris Alexander brought a hint of deja vu with him as Classic Championship Wrestling was off and running with another intense Tuesday night lineup, immediately (and angrily) calling Vic the Bruiser to the ring once again. With his sickening actions last week in attacking Miss Holly Wood during the intermission meet and greet, alongside a quickly growing list of offenses since returning to CCW a few weeks ago, Vic somehow managed to look surprised as he strolled out to ringside.

Wasting little time, Alexander tore into the Bruiser, informing him as well as the fans that Miss Holly Wood is still hospitalized as a result of the attack! For this, on top of everything else, Alexander said he figured that meant the "probationary" status of Vic's six month contract meant very little to Vic, and as a result, he could grab his bags and hit the bricks, cause he was fired! This was good stuff to Vic, and as he laughed long and hard over it, Alexander's persistence started wearing thin. Snatching the microphone from the commissioner, Vic told him in no uncertain terms what that title meant to him, going on to shock Alexander and the crowd alike by relaying his tale of attacking "Smooth" Johnny Spade in the very hospital room that he was visiting Miss Holly Wood, cracking up as he delivered a one-liner about them having "matching beds" in the hospital!

As the argument continued to build, Vic would eventually slap Alexander hard across the face, something every person dreams of doing after getting fired, but most bosses don't react the way Alexander did, shoving Vic to the ground as his temper flared, challenging him to a match

in the absence of Johnny Spade! I couldn't quite hear what Vic was saying from my vantage point (nor do I think, at 31, I would be old enough to hear it), but every indication was that the match was on! Alexander has been getting pushed harder and further in the last couple of

months that in his entire tenure as Commissioner, so Vic reaching Alexander's breaking point was inevitable. What remained to be seen was if Alexander was going to wind up sharing space with Johnny Spade and Miss Holly Wood!

Matt Maverick vs. Elmore Fudd (w/Mrs. Elma Fudd):

Fudd and wife hit the CCW Arena looking to continue the winning ways, as Fudd looked impressive in a victory over Lincoln Walker last week, and had every intention of looking just as impressive this week against Matt Maverick. Maverick's recent hiatus hasn't affected his

popularity with the fans, as the packed house warmly welcomed back the young rising star.

Using a strategic couple of handfuls of hair, Fudd was able to stay on top of Maverick and control the tempo of the match early on. This definitely lit a fire under Maverick, who took the lead with a side headlock after unsuccessfully arguing his case with referee Jeremy

MacKenzie. Throwing in a little payback, when Fudd tried to make an escape, Maverick would reel him back in by way of his goatee! It may help Fudd keep warm up on the deer stand, but in the ring tonight, it was not doing him any favors.

Picking her shots carefully, Elma Fudd caught one of Maverick's legs, tripping him up and swinging the advantage back into her man's corner. Through fooling around, Fudd would lay on the chokes, whether by boot, by hand, or by ring rope, it made no difference as match wore on. Maverick would try to counter, ducking a clothesline and then trying for a sunset flip, only to be rewarded by a hard right hand for his efforts. Following up with a backbreaker, Fudd would score his first near-fall, turning the corner toward the possible win. Two big vertical suplexes put Fudd in good shape, but going for a third might have been a slight misjudgment, as Maverick would strike out of nowhere with a small package for the pin! A clearly shocked Elmore Fudd definitely has to be wondering what the hell went wrong as he tries to regroup next week. As for Maverick, his 2007 is off and running, but how he will capitalize on it is anyone's guess after a hard fought, come-from-behind win.

Winner of the Match: Matt Maverick, by pinfall.

Jebediah Blackhawk vs. Tommy "T-Dawg" Foreman:

With the "Rocky" theme blaring over the house speakers, Tommy "T-Dawg" Foreman shuffled and jabbed his way back into singles action, and the underdog theme seemed to fit, as Foreman had Jebediah Blackhawk across the ring from him. As the match kicked off, Blackhawk would showcase his obvious size and strength advantages over Foreman, launching him to the opposite end of the ring on two consecutive lockups. Nearly gaining the pin on a schoolboy, Blackhawk was on cruise control until Foreman broke through with his trademark jabs, including one that may have had some points deducted for being low, if this was in fact a boxing match. Referee Jeremy MacKenzie must have missed it, but you know Blackhawk was feeling it.

T-Dawg would dominate the big man briefly, but a clothesline set up the journeyman for a big chokeslam by Blackhawk, who would score the pin fall! Blackhawk's been off to a big start this year, and it is going to be interesting to see what becomes of the recent success. Foreman,

however, may still be trying to shake loose the cobwebs, as he definitely had a case of the wobbles following the match.

Winner of the Match: Jebediah Blackhawk, by pinfall

"Playboy" Scott Hayes was then led out, literally, to the ring by JesseBell, sporting dark glasses and a cane, obviously having some fun at The Prophet's expense! In rare form, Hayes started off by saying that not only did Prophet not win the match, he 'never saw it coming.' Going on to say that he had accepted Prophet's challenge for a rematch Hayes also defended his win from last week, assuring the fans in attendance that he and JesseBell had never cheated in a match. To punctuate his stance, Hayes bottom lined it for the Prophet, saying that not only could he see better than Prophet, but he was a better man, a better wrestler, and a better lover to boot! That was all The Prophet could handle as he hit the ring, steaming mad and out for nothing but revenge! The match was already on, and now the Playboy definitely knew what was in store for him!

Vito Andretti vs. Apollo:

This promised to be a bruising affair, as both men are far from strangers on opposite corners of the ring. After slugging it out at the opening bell, Apollo was in the driver's seat, going to work on the left leg of Andretti. Taunting Vito, Apollo was keeping the game plan on the big man's wheels, as Black silently watched from near the announcers' table. The other half of the CCW Tag Team Champions did not appear overly emotional one way or another as he watched Andretti struggle to ignite any offense in the match. Looking to soften up Vito for the kill, Apollo would score with two big running splashes before missing the third, allowing a couple of hard right hands by his opponent to threaten a comeback. Thinking quick, Apollo cut Andretti off at the pass by returning to the left leg. Another quick rally by Vito saw him gain the pinfall after a swinging neckbreaker!

Before Vito had a chance to celebrate his win, Jack Black was on the microphone, telling Andretti that this was exactly what he was talking about, that while he swept up, Vito was always running out and getting it handed to him! Not done there, by a longshot, Black went on to say that maybe he should start sticking his nose in Vito's business! The confrontation between the two started to break down as Black, in the ring by this point, shoved Vito as the exchange grew heated. Coming from the back, Commissioner Chris Alexander was through trying to figure out the growing rift between the Tag Team Champions, but since he was on the subject, and they were in the ring together, Alexander reminded them that CCW regulations stated championships must be defended every 30 days, and The Fat N The Furious were well beyond the 30 day limit. Black said that was fine, but title or not, he was not going to team up with Andretti again, under any circumstances!

This only led to further argument, as then both men stated their cases for being awarded both halves of the CCW Tag Team Championship to find a new partner. Black even proposed a one-on-one match, with the winner being awarded the belts, but Alexander refused that idea, saying the belts were going to be won in a tag team match, so he told both Black and Andretti to find a partner, and in two weeks, the winner of that tag team match would be the new CCW Tag Team Champions!

Dynamite Derrick vs. Kliff Hanger:

This match provided a collision between two men chasing the CCW Heavyweight title currently held by "Smooth" Johnny Spade - Kliff Hanger and Dynamite Derrick. For "The Black Redneck," Kliff Hanger, it was a long road to the #1 Contendership, but now with Spade injured at the hands of Vic the Bruiser, even the #1 Contendership contains some uncertainty. For "The Old School Player," Dynamite Derrick, the former champion has been hellbent on regaining his place at the top of the mountain in Classic Championship Wrestling, and a win over Kliff Hanger would certainly improve his stock on the comeback trail.

Any momentum that Derrick might have carried into the match with him was quickly evaporated by Kliff, who led the fans in a hearty chant of "Derrick Sucks!," that left him fuming on the arena floor for a seven count. Somewhat reluctantly stepping into the ring, Derrick suddenly charged, but Kliff had a drop toe hold waiting for him when he got there. Responding with a kick and a right hand, Derrick looked to land another, but Kliff ducked, swarming the former champ with a back body drop, a dropkick with Derrick caught in the corner, and then the ten punches in the corner, leaving little surprise when Kliff scored the first near fall of the contest.

Raking the eyes, Derrick took over, locking a camel clutch. After a longer struggle than most would have put up, Kliff reached the rope, forcing the break. Staying right on his opponent, Derrick used a textbook vertical suplex to set up Kliff for a top rope elbow drop, but at

the very last instant, Kliff rolled out of the way. Firing back with punches and an inziguri kick, Kliff managed another two-count on Derrick who, furious by this point in the match, let his temper get the best of him as he launched Kliff over the top rope, right in front of referee

Jeremy MacKenzie, who was left with no other choice but to disqualify Derrick! It was a decision not only unpopular with Kliff Hanger, but the fans as well, but Derrick will have to cross paths with Kliff Hanger again down the road if he's going to get the chance to reclaim the CCW Championship, and one can expect that The Black Redneck will remember this night the next time he's signed to face Dynamite Derrick.

Winner of the Match: Kliff Hanger, by disqualification

Chris Alexander vs. Vic the Bruiser:

Making his official in-ring return to Classic Championship Wrestling, the Bruiser was looking to not only build upon the impact he has created since arriving a few weeks ago, but knock the Commissioner down a few pegs at the same time. Lacing up the boots, Alexander hit the

ring with more than just the slap in the face from earlier in the night on his mind.

The crowd played a factor in the early stages of the match, clearly in Alexander's corner, which irritated Vic to no end. Jawing with the fans nearly cost Vic, however, as Alexander gained a two-count with a schoolboy during the exchange. Trying to employ his speed advantage, Alexander used a couple of headlock takedowns to wrestle The Bruiser to the mat. The aggravation was mounting with Vic, threatening a disqualification as he shoved referee Jeremy MacKenzie during a chant lead by Alexander at his expense. Staying on the attack, Alexander would drive Vic to the floor as one had to like the Commissioner's chances at this stage of the match.

Nearly taking a count-out as he gathered his thoughts, Vic would return to the ring, only now with a foreign object, which would eventually be revealed as a chain. The crowd implored the ref to check Vic for the chain, but the wily veteran managed to stay a step ahead of both

MacKenzie and Alexander, and the chain remained better hidden than Jimmy Hoffa as the fans grew desperate, knowing what The Bruiser had in mind for his next possible victim! Scoring with a shot to the ribs, Vic made up for lost time, choking away with the boot, and then the chain as he was finally getting a chance to punish Alexander. Taunting the crowd with the chain, Vic disposed of it as he took his opponent outside the ring to batter him further.

Despite the damage inflicted, Alexander found a second wind, and burst from the gates with a rally, hitting a back elbow and a clothesline to stagger Vic. Working him into the corner, Alexander would climb to the middle rope and deliver the obligatory ten punches. Putting the brakes on the Commissioner's rally, Vic would land a big elbow drop, but that was simply the signal that Vic was through messing around, as he then threw a chair into the ring. While MacKenzie would try and restore order, Vic would intimidate him back away before leveling Alexander with the chair and drawing the disqualification! As Kliff Hanger, Shawn Dolphin, Vito Andretti, and Marcus ran out to put an end to this, Vic had some remarks regarding "two down, one to go..." Who the last one to go is remains to be seen, but Marcus had plenty to say about it, telling Vic that as far as he was concerned, he'd fire Vic on the spot, but Johnny Spade didn't want Vic gone, not until he had a chance to square off with The Bruiser in the ring!

Winner of the Match: Chris Alexander, by disqualification

Main Event: The Prophet vs. "Playboy" Scott Hayes (w/JesseBell):

In a highly anticipated return match from last week, The Prophet was out for nothing more than revenge, and found nothing but a flurry of boots and punches from Hayes as he stormed the ring before his introduction was complete. Following up with a clothesline, Hayes looked to

take a big lead at the bell, but Prophet recovered to force the Playboy out to the floor. Not content with just that, Prophet gave chase, cornering Hayes, who would unsuccessfully try to beg for a time out, getting Irish whipped into the opposite corner and a big back body drop

for his troubles. JesseBell had seen enough at this point, and as the opportunity presented itself, she tripped up her former client, allowing Hayes to regain the advantage. Hayes would use this time to the maximum effect, as he would set Prophet up in the Tree of Woe to

dish it out on his defenseless opponent.

After several near falls by Hayes, he argued his case with referee Jeremy MacKenzie, but this slight window of time was enough to spark a comeback by the big man, but Hayes managed to cut it off at the pass. Setting Prophet up for a Tornado DDT, Hayes and everybody else in the building was caught off guard when it was reversed into what could only be described as a razor's edge driver! It was an innovative move out of nowhere that devastated the Playboy and allowed Prophet to get back into the match. Gathering steam, Prophet hit two clotheslines and a big tomahawk chop before rolling up Hayes, who would kick out and launch Prophet into the ropes. This is where JesseBell was waiting to hit Prophet with the spray again, only this time he was waiting for it, and he slapped it from her hands. In the confusion, Hayes was waiting himself, only he was armed with the cane from his "blind man" routine earlier, which he then used to knock out The Prophet for the win!

Continuing the assault after the bell, Prophet would gain the upper hand, but as he stood in the ring listening to Hayes repeat the same remarks from earlier in the night, he let Hayes and JesseBell know he was tired of the "disruption" in his life, and if Hayes wanted JesseBell, whom he called a "two-timing trash heap," that was fine with him, but something had to give, and Prophet proposed a match in which if Hayes wins, he can keep JesseBell and go on with life, but if The Prophet wins, both Hayes and JesseBell have to leave Classic

Championship Wrestling!

Winner of the Match: "Playboy" Scott Hayes, by pinfall
