War of the Worlds: Actor Interview

Cassandra Bell
I recently interviewed actor David Alan Basche, who was in the film "War of the Worlds."

Bell: What is your favorite part of the movie "War of the Worlds?"

Basche: I like the first ten minutes, because it really sets up the situation of a typical dysfunctional family. But what happens next is not typical at all!

Bell: What part of the filming was the most challenging to you?

Basche: The first moment walking onto the set. I'm thinking "It's Steven Spielberg, for Goodness sake!" I was nervous, but he and Tom Cruise made me feel welcome, and we got right to work.

Bell: Any behind the scenes/ memorable moments?

Basche: I guess one take when Tom almost ran into me and Miranda Otto in that vintage Mustang going about 110 miles per hour would qualify as a memorable moment, right?

Bell: What is your opinion of the existence of aliens in real life and your view on the Roswell incident?

Basche: I think it's self centered and naive to think we are the only ones here, so I'm open to the possibilty of the existence of other intelligent life in the universe. As for the 1947 Roswell New Mexico incident, I don't know if it's a hoax or a cover-up, but either way, it makes for good Sci-Fi movies.

Bell: In what other movies and television shows have you starred?

Basche: See www.Davidalanbasche.com

Bell: What advice would you give to aspiring actors/actresses?

Basche: Persistence is everything.

Bell: Anything else you would like to share with us?

Basche: Just some shameless self-promotion about a few Indie films I've done recently! "First Time Caller" will be distributed with the help of former United Artists President Bingham Ray, the Showtime feature "Carry Me Home" is now available at Blockbuster, and "Crazy Love" is screening at the DGA in Los Angeles on August 12. Oh, and I will appear in a few episodes of Denis Leary's tv show "Rescue Me" on FX, starting August 2.

I would like to thank David Alan Basche for allowing me to interview him.
