IRAQ WAR - NO WAY OUT

Imran Khan
National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), which represent the consensus of 16 United States intelligence agencies has described in a report that America is less safe than before and war against Iraq has fueled the growth of anger in Muslim World.

The report says “The Iraq conflict has become a ‘cause celebre’ for jidadists, breeding a deep resentment of U. S. involvement in the Muslim World and cultivating supporters for the global jihadist movement”.

The NIE’s report is a classified document and was leaked in major Newspapers of United States. President Bush was quick to reply and said that Newspapers only published a small portion of report and it did not represent the whole report’s assessment. He also ordered to de-classify a four page summary of the report to let the people know more about it. He also said to publish such a portion of a report in newspapers was nothing else but to gain political advantages as elections are near.

Though by reading summary of the report also doesn’t make such a difference and it clearly shows that invasion of Iraq was a dreadful disaster. It is a clear fact now that USA has no moral grounds to invade Iraq in 2003. America invaded Iraq on the basis that Saddam Hussein regime was trying to produce Weapons of Mass Destruction. Nothing has been proved and there was no link of Iraqi’s in 9/11 and with Al-Qaeda.

With the courtesy of Media and Internet nothing can remain hidden for longtime and now everyone in the world knows that war against Iraq was based on false basis. It is not the thinking of the outside world only but majority of Americans also believe in it now, though they supported the war at start.

With the situation in Iraq indeed Muslims around the world are angry and it’s natural. It should not come as surprise if more people have joined the ranks of Al-Qaeda in Iraq to fight against United States occupation. If a foreign power invaded America or any western country will America & west grow more resolute in opposition to that power or not? Yes they will.

A war which was called “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and to bring peace and prosperity for Iraqis has gone all wrong. There is continues bloodshed of innocent civilians every day. US government keep saying that these killings are because of Al-Qaeda and insurgents but still responsibility lies on US shoulders as it started the war. It was not happening before the invasion. If things were bad in Saddam Hussein rule now they are worst. War in Iraq is not proving bad for Iraqis only, United States armed forces have also lost over 2500 soldiers. War has cost up to $400 Billion and rising about $8 billion per month.

Will President George W. Bush ever acknowledge that the war against Iraq was a bad decision? Instead he is firmly committed. He said “I strongly disagree. I think it’s naive. I think it’s a mistake for people to believe that going on the offense against people that want to do harm to the American people makes us less safe”. America has all rights to protect its citizens from any terrorist attacks. But can American president tells us that what was Iraq rule in terrorism when it was attacked? Only because then Iraqi president was Anti-American and it was enough to level him as terrorist and friend of terrorists.

Its not looking that there would be any change in Iraq situation in near future. As United States administration is dedicated and not listening to the critics and realities. For them to topple Saddam Hussein was easy and they believed that perhaps everything will go smoothly after getting Saddam out of business. Unfortunately as they had no clear proofs to start the war they also had no clues what will happen next. Strong insurgency has halted all the things in Iraq and so far US has no strategy to cope the situation. Even many retired US generals have criticized their government for failed strategy in Iraq. Can America leave Iraq in this situation when the whole county is in Chaos? When it becomes a breeding point for Al-Qaeda & Insurgency? The answer is No. In Iraq now, the truth is, Mr. Bush has put his country in a position where they have no way out.
