911 – 5 Years Later

Michael C. Morris
As we remember 911 five years later, it is time for America to review the facts of that day and make the decision. Do we do what we know will work, or do we continue to walk blindly into the future without a plan?

On a recent interview with Katie Couric, President Bush said the hardest part of his job was tying to connect the War in Iraq with Terrorism. The reason that the President is having such a hard time linking the two world events is that, at least for me, the President and his staffs have no credibility. As a President, creditability is everything.

While most Americans supported the decision to go to Afghanistan to get Bin Laden, when it came to Iraq, we now know that the President and his staff manufactured evidence, miss read facts and just plain ignored the truth that justified our invasion of Iraq. In other words, they lied, and thereby they ruined their creditability. On this day of remembrance we should not look back because that is water under the bridge. What we as Americans need to do is look at the course we are on and the crew running our ship.

Let’s look at the facts; we can’t trust the captain of our ship, even if you are a George Bush fan, lying and misleading the American People who are supposed to be the real Government in the United States, along with the crew of the ship has placed America in very dangerous waters that we did not need to navigate in order to make us safe. In fact, we are less safe now then on 911 as though our actions we have increased the numbers of terrorist’s world wide by four fold. We are involved in the Vietnam of the Middle East where like Vietnam, there is no winning solution. Do we need to wait 20 years to read the same paperwork lessons that we already learned in Vietnam? America needs to decide.

This fall in the mid-elections America should, through our votes, have our Congress set a clear plan for America to make America safe and let the rest of the world fend for themselves. I would suggest the following:

1. Develop and execute a clear plan to stabilize and withdraw from Iraq.

2. Remove all illegal aliens from US soil. Regardless of the economic impact, this must be done. Money is not worth lives.

3. Lock down our borders and ports. How can anyone be safe with the front door is unlocked.

4. Continue the domestic and international surveillance and interagency cooperation with civilian oversight that once information is determined to be irrelevant to national security, that the information is destroyed entirety. Since we can not trust the captain and crew, we need to make sure we stand over their shoulder and the information gathered is not used to manipulate America.

5. Become energy independent. How can we be secure when they have us by the family jewels?

6. Bring ALL of our manufacturing and jobs back home. Without everything that we consume coming through the ports from overseas, no one will be able to build and ship bombs to our shores. It would also make America its own master of economic destiny.

7. Clean the courts of nonsense and make ALL Americans legally responsible for their actions not just poor Americans.

A final word of warning, while no one wants Iran to have a nuclear weapon, if America invades Iran the way we did in Iraq, we will start World War III and it will go nuclear and if you think for any moment that we will escape that fate you are wrong.

America, it is time to make some hard decisions to fire our captain and crew and change the course of our ship or as God is my witness, this ship will crash and sink on the rocks of a deadly shore.
