There are various types of roasted coffee including light, medium and dark brown roasted coffee. The roasting method is crucial in the flavor of coffee. It can enhance the beans´ sweetness or bitterness.
French roasting is actually another method of roasting coffee beans. Unlike other coffee beans, the beans have to be green in color first and small in size. They are roasted for about 13 minutes in 282 degree Celsius temperature.
The first crack you will hear will render the beans Cinnamon roast. The second one is the perfectly roasted French roast. This is more often used in making espresso—thus the name French roast.
Out of all the beans, this one has the darkest color even darker than dark roasted beans. But unlike dark roasted beans which have a rather mild and sweet flavor, the flavor of these roasted beans is strong and smoky. It is also characterized by sheen of oil on it. If you want your coffee strong, this type of coffee roasting is the ideal one.
You can make this coffee the same way you make your other coffee. Just mix one tablespoon with about 6 ounces of water if you are only making a cup for yourself. You can add more water if you do not like it that strong. Do the corresponding measurement when you want to brew more for your house guests.
If you are using a coffee maker that produces a bland tasting coffee, you might want to try this type of beans. If a machine does not function well in extracting flavor from coffee beans, a stronger coffee bean flavor is needed.
You can also use French press coffee machine to complement this coffee bean and to make one flavorful cup of coffee. The only downside I can see is that French roasted beans are already oily as it is and it can still get oilier when you use a French press brewer and this might lead to cholesterolandia. But this brewer produces the best tasting java as it has a strong flavor that can bang the lights out of you.
Rather than buy this coffee every day in a coffee shop and spend dollars on it, master the art of making it at home. Buy a drip brewer and you can easily copy the taste. Just do not let it sit long in a thermal carafe as it has the tendency to become bitter.
