Messing With Mother Nature

Honestly people, how do adults go from a childhood state of innocence, clarity, & questioning to such corruptible & contemptible creatures?

I read a full color, half page ad in the Concord Union, New Hampshire paper of record sponsored by the Medical Marijuana Policy folks. It had pictures of people with various afflictions & bullet points on the side noting that the American Nurses Association & Medical Associations do NOT favor treating patients as criminals.

We continue to spend EXPENSIVE hours deliberating "health care reform" with our top paid legislators at the Federal level. While at the local, community & State levels we continue to deal with the effects of NOT making basic adjustments at the macro level that are based on Universally held common principles of humanity.

Let me draw some broad strokes here. Our largest professional associations for nurses & doctors agree about some BASIC civil tenets that promote health & wellness.

Health professionals know these things: a healthy family starts with a healthy, heterosexual couple, a man & a woman who are sexually mature.

When healthy coupling occurs, & conception results, there is a happy, expectant air about the newly developing FAMILY. One healthy adult finds another through courtship, they bond, they conceive. This is Mother Nature at work. And Mother Nature presides over the living mammalian species as a whole.

And like other mammals there is competition & confrontation, a locking of horns, displays of feathers, strutting, tail swishing; displays of courtship during the mating seasons. All built into our DNA. The building blocks of manifested life.

The males will compete for females, as will females compete for males. And as any astute observer of Nature in all Her glory will attest, these cycles of rutting, courtship, mating happen predictably in the circadian rhythm of Earth's seasons: predominantly in the Spring & again in the Fall.

While, in some seasons the competition may heighten to a life & death struggle for dominance, generally Nature favors the combining of 2 different pools of genes in a mammal; human, or otherwise, from differing gene pools.

Humans noticed interbreeding within the same family over generations produced sickly, frail, or insane specimens of humanity, & that, in Nature's vast embrace, richer, stronger, diverse & hardy individuals arise from cross-breeding.

Here we are today. Because we enjoy "higher consciousness" we have embarked upon an era of amazing abilities & technologies where we can, indeed mess with Mother Nature. We can alter & tweak Her at will, as long as She let's us.

Since we live on a free will planet twirling on her axis in a free will multiverse, we CAN tweak DNA, tease out ingredients & elements from plants to make pills & pharmaceuticals & animals, but my question to the reader is; SHOULD we? The earth is populated with lots of humans now. Rising up on generations of previous ancestors from all over the globe.

While concentrations of humanity have flocked to & built teeming cities, bustling with all manner of commerce & business Nature continues to influence & prevail over the Earth; sending the 4 winds about; stirring up oceans, sparking wildfires, reshaping coastlines across the Earth. With not one iota of human help.

In our classrooms across the country, in universities we teach nurses & doctors how VALUABLE a "normal", healthy, planned pregnancy is, how VITAL breast milk, & breast feeding is.

In prepared childbirth classes in clinics & private homes we teach about gentle birth, the importance of the birth team, the need to "demedicalize" what has been going on for millennia without it becoming a "hospital procedure".

Nurses & midwives have long known this, passed down as wise woman teachings in clans & tribes. Alongside ministering to the developing family, nurses & midwives knew herbs. They knew how to recognize & identify them, collect them, dry & store them, & prepare them as teas, tinctures, poultices, pastes, & lotions to aid in recovery: of childbirth, from accident or illness.

The midwife, prior to the 20th century, was also well trained in areas we now call pharmacy & medicine, before mass transit,& the formalizing of broad disciplines of medicine, pharmacology, & law as we know them today.

So, perhaps it is time for broad strokes.

It is always more cost effective in terms of time, personnel, & money to PREVENT trauma & illness & injury than to TREAT it.

We can not re-form health CARE without acknowledging this basic tenet.

What flows from the foundational truth then is this; focusing our efforts on producing & sustaining healthy FAMILY units is focusing on keeping healthy cells: the individual family units that make up our communal body of humanity.

So why do we teach in kindergarten, "No fighting no biting...clean up your own space, keep your stuff together in your cubby"...& in "higher education", spend millions of dollars engineering biochemical warfare, bombs, high-tech stuff designed ONLY to kill human mammals?

It makes no sense at all.

Why spend over 300 dollars or more a vial on Marinol; a pharmaceutical graded form of the extracted THC or cannibols in marijuana, when the herb is more potently effective to users in its natural, dried organic form?

Why are there all these pharmaceutical companies dominating our culture with ads that, now, include so many possible adverse consequences to taking them, only a fool would?

Most noxious of all though, is the DELIBERATE antagonism that remains between large Government institutions AGAINST each other that is the MOST obvious ostrich in our midst right now.

Many budgetary woes will evaporate like the morning mist once high noon hits when we take care of these HUGE gaps in logical, sane thinking.

We will not have silly debates in legislation concerning the Bible & hate crimes. Yes, the Bible tells us how a natural & supernatural family came/comes to exist.

It does have passages warning against unnatural acts & bestiality.

It is not a hate crime to point out the obvious.

I doubt any pastor or rabbi will be arrested for pointing out what Scriptures, the laws of religion have said on these matters.

A crime, in its most basic form has to be PROVEN. In this country we are all protected with the Sovereign rights of humanity embodied in our US Constitution.

We have both the right to live peaceably & privately in our homes & of free association with anyone we choose.

What private acts adults choose to indulge in, in their own homes, is sacrosanct. It is protected.

This is a free country.

And what God, through His prophets has told us, is both the way of the natural & the supernatural.

Both natural & supernatural Man inspired & moved us to our present day. Our present Constitution. Our present America.

We can talk, write, discuss, argue, contend about all kinds of ideas in freedom & in peace.

And explore & experiment with them all & with each other.

No blame, no foul, no fraud.

It is the challenge of life itself, each one's OWN life to discern who, if anyone, will be a suitable mate, & for how long. That is what the skein of time is for.
