Invented by the company that makes the Sonicare toothbrush, the Clarisonic skin care system has become incredibly popular. The question is, should you use it if you have acne? You may be able to use it, depending on what type of acne you have. Let's take a look at the guidelines.

The Clarisonic skin care brush should be fine on most skin types and they have soft brushes available for delicate and sensitive skin. But since you are applying very fast moving brushes to your skin, there are definitely some folks who probably shouldn't use it. If you have any kind of skin condition, it pays to talk to your doctor about the Clarisonic before you go out and spend nearly $200 on it. They do have a good return policy, but getting your answer from your dermatologist before you buy it will save you some hassle.

The Clarisonic isn't recommended if you have pustular acne. This is a type of lesion and the device isn't recommended if you have open wounds or lesions. If you have any kind of serious skin disorder or take medications that make your skin sensitive, it is best to avoid the Clarisonic.

If you have mild acne, however, using it should be fine. Everyone's skin is a bit different so some people will see great results from using the Clarisonic and find that it helps get rid of acne, while someone else may find that their acne gets a bit worse. The best way to know is to try it out, but again, do talk to your doctor first if you have a serious skin condition. You don't want to use anything that can make your skin worse.
