CSSU CONDEMNS KILLINGS OF SOMALI SECURITY MINISTER

Death toll rises to 45 in Suicide Bombing

(Minneapolis, MN. June 19, 2009) - The Center For Somali Solutions International Section (CSSU) today condemned the killing and the suicide car bombing in Beledweyne which killed the National Security Minister, Omar Hashi Aden, former Somali Ambassador to Ethiopia Abdikarin Laqanyo along with community leaders and other innocent Somalis.

The Civilians death toll recently hit 45 in Shabab´s latest attack on Baladweyn. An In its statement, the Minneapolis-based Somali Diaspora organization and advocacy group said:" As International community stand mute, Shabab and Al-Qaeda is treating Somalis like a fenced hunting preserve in which human beings are the prey. CSSU also called on Somalis in Diaspora leaders and organizations to condemn the Shabab Militant´s brutal tactics and assassinations in the Somali Territories, particularly the killing of Somali civilians, leaders and Intellectuals." "We condemn this cold-blooded murder and repudiate all those who commit such acts of mindless violence. We offer sincere condolences to Mr. Omar Hashi´s family and once again call on people of all faiths and cultures to work together for peace and reconciliation, not continued war and destruction."

The U.N. relief agency recently warned that Somalia's worst drought in a decade is pushing growing numbers of children into near-famine conditions and deepening the humanitarian crisis caused by political violence. CSSU, is Somalia's largest Diaspora group, has regional offices and chapters in Africa and North America.
