CLEARWATER, FLORIDA – PODS® Inc. celebrates a historic milestone with the delivery of its millionth PODS® container to Paul Johnson of Fullerton, CA who recently took delivery of the container to serve as on-site storage during an extensive home remodel.
"I was very surprised to learn I was the millionth delivery for PODS," Johnson said. "I first learned of PODS when I saw a container parked at a neighbor´s home and thought it was an awesome idea (to have a PODS container on-site) during our own home remodel."
Impressed most with the professionalism and outstanding customer service he received, Johnson said having the PODS container onsite provided immediate access to items that were stored at various stages of reconstruction. "This has been a blessing to our family," he said. With a paraplegic son, the extensive home remodel will provide structural modifications to accommodate wheelchair access throughout the entire home.
As PODS millionth delivery, Johnson was awarded one-year of free PODS storage and a $500 gift card to a construction warehouse to help with remodeling efforts. "Now that PODS has given us storage for one year, it will be great to take a little more time to go through our things as we settle back into our home," Johnson said.
In addition to providing a year of storage to Johnson, PODS donated a container in his name to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles for use on future jobsites. "We applaud Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles in helping families reach their goal of homeownership and look forward to our partnership," said John Hamilton, manager of PODS Los Angeles LLC.
"Our chapter has worked with PODS for the last two years and is always a great help to our organization," said Jan Grothe, construction supervisor of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. "The biggest benefit to using PODS is that we can load all of our materials at the warehouse and have it on the jobsite for easy access by our volunteers, which streamlines our logistics and moves the build along much quicker."
During the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Jimmy Carter Work Project in 2007, PODS supplied approximately 55 PODS to help build and renovate more than 70 homes on 35 different jobsites in the Los Angeles area. "PODS has been a huge part of our success and in making dreams come true for many families," Grothe said.
PODS has served in many situations that are less conventional than moving, assisting in recovery efforts during Hurricane Katrina, the Malibu fires and recent Midwest flooding in Iowa, and routinely delivers PODS containers around the nation to communities experiencing emergency situations.
