A TV series project is under development that follows a small, secret government team as they investigate unusual phenomena.

Tentatively titled "Joint Recon Study Group," the story brings viewers into the world of a classified project involving a military and intelligence group of ten men and women based in San Diego, say the creators and writers of the series proposal.

Currently, the creative team working on the series is completing the concept, storylines, character development and related materials.

In the series proposal, the group conducts research and investigations into special and sometimes unusual phenomena that are mysteriously linked to U.S. national security.

This special team is a combination of military officers from the Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force as well as intelligence agency personnel and civilians.

Joint Recon Study Group members tackle missions that include ESP and "remote viewing," UFOs, crop circles, DNA genetics mysteries, ancient American Indian legends and prophecies, government dolphin research, strange discoveries in modern physics and other phenomena from the scientific to the metaphysical.

DEVELOPMENT CONCEPTS

"The team pursues answers to ancient questions and modern mysteries as part of their mission to protect America and help create a better world," says writer Steve Hammons. The original story concept for the series is based on his two novels and feature film screenplay.

"From their office on a San Diego Navy base, members of the group often go to interesting locations as part of their investigations ... places like Sedona, Arizona," Hammons explains.

"We envision a series that includes elements of several very successful programs, yet is a distinctly new concept in the way these ideas are brought together," project developer C. F. York said.

"The show's main characters are tasked with gathering information, uncovering hidden secrets and coming to conclusions based on their findings. They encounter interesting and compassionate people along the way. They also meet adversaries who must be confronted," York stated.

"The series concept combines an exciting synergy involving U.S. military and intelligence people, who show themselves to be very human, with emerging and mysterious phenomena that fascinate millions of people around the world," according to Robert M. Caruso, another writer and developer of the series.

These characters are dedicated to getting answers and understanding unusual things going on. They meet adversaries who don't want them to succeed and pose dangerous threats," said Caruso.

Unusual phenomena emerging from current research will be key parts of the proposed series.

According to physicist Hal Puthoff, Ph.D., "The interesting developments going on in physics lately have brought us to where science fact is outstripping science fiction. Wormholes and warp drives, quantum entanglement and teleportation, multidimensional universes – these are now standard fare in mainstream science journals."

Puthoff is a theoretical and experimental physicist, former Navy intelligence officer, and president and CEO of the Austin, Texas, research firm EarthTech International, Inc.

"Based on this, phenomena that would have seemed outrageous even just a decade or two ago cannot now be rejected out of hand without careful scrutiny. The playing field of reality has expanded," Puthoff said.

NEXT STEPS

The series development phase will last throughout the summer. At the conclusion of that phase the development team will begin the process of pitching the project to prospective networks and producers.

Planning for the series includes consideration of the audience interest in shows like "The X-Files, "Medium," "Stargate SG-1," "JAG," "NCIS" and other programs where investigators of various kinds are faced with new cases, adventures and mysteries in each episode.

Viewer interest will be key to the stories portrayed in the series, the project developers promise. Scientific accuracy and the connections to real-life research, phenomena and events will also be part of the show, they say.

Discoveries about things like ESP, time travel, teleportation, UFOs and other fantastic topics are being looked at more seriously by scientists, and these are the kinds of subjects that millions of people are interested in, according to the series' writers.

Looking at unusual phenomena from the points of view of the show's characters, who are serious military and intelligence people, the writers believe that viewers will share a special perspective with the characters – a perspective that looks at these topics from many angles and leads to greater understanding of the sometimes amazing connections involved.

The very human characters will also discover things within themselves: doubt, cynicism, passion, dedication and courage in the face of dangerous opponents.

The series developers are hoping that millions of TV viewers will be able to join in the activities of this secret research group as they delve into new missions and mysteries each week.

As the writers prepare to pitch their series concept, they believe that the idea will gain traction and before long, the show will move closer to production and broadcast.
