Gossip Girl is one of those great shows you can catch on TV late at night, and you expect it to be on when nothing else is. It is packed full of humor that almost anyone can relate to, and includes problems that real people can actually understand. Rather than watching some crazy soap opera with twisted story lines, Gossip Girl brings out the humor in everyday live even just by sitting in a coffee shop and chatting with friends.
Gossip Girl is another teen drama that I just cannot pry my eyes away from when it comes on. I am really not sure why it is that I love this show so much. I could be the completely awesome cast or the great characters. Either way I love this show. I was really surprised to find out that the show did not get more viewers in its first season and with the current writer´s strike, who knows if there will be a next season. This is really upsetting to me personally just because I thought the show was that great.
The show Gossip Girl is based on a book series with the same name, written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The show is about teens growing up on the rich, East Side of New York. The kids attend a private school for rich kids. The show mostly revolves around the relationship between Dan and Serena and the love triangle between friends, Chuck and Nate and Nate´s girlfriend Blair. There is also a steamy romance going on between Serena´s mother and Dan´s father. Also, Dan´s younger sister, Jenny, tries to deal with life amongst the popular kids.
The main character is known as Gossip Girl, voiced by Kristen bell, she is the unseen, but knows it all runner of the blog that is popularly known to the main characters. Serena van der Woodsen was the most popular girl on the upper east side until one day she up and left for boarding school on her own for reasons unknown. When she comes back in the beginning of the series she realizes that she is no longer Miss Popular because that role had been taken up by best friend Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester. Serena finds an ally in and then is begins dating the handsome Dan Humphrey played by Penn Bradgley.
Blair Waldorf is pretty upset about Serena´s disappearance but then she finds herself as the new It Girl, a status that she takes pleasure in as most as much as her boyfriend Nate Archibald, played by Chace Crawford. Nate has a troubled home life, with a father on drugs and a mother who refuses to see that their perfect life is coming apart at its seems. Serena´s mother, Lily van der Woodsen, played by Kelly Rutherford, is a socialite and former groupie to the band that Rufus Humphery, Dan´s father, played in. Matthew Settle plays Rufus.
