Many of you may already be aware of the effort being made by some individuals in both government and private organizations for the formation of a North American Union similar to that of the European Union. This of course, would be a union of the US, Canada and Mexico. The most obvious outward result of this action would be open borders and the US dollar, Canadian dollar and the Mexican peso would need to be replaced with the "Amero" currency, similar to the current European "Euro". Unfortunately, as a major downside, should a North American Union become reality, the current US Constitution would no longer be a valid document for supporting this new Union.

I have been following this possible NA Union concept for a few years since I was originally made aware of it with regard to a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Super Highway that is currently under proposal to run through the US heartland from Mexico to Canada. The highway would originate at the new, mega-sized port in Punta Colonet, Baja California, cross the central United States and end in Southern Quebec, Canada. The Highway would be 10 lanes wide, 5 lanes in each direction and the highway corridor at a minimum would be as wide as 4 football fields. There would also be space for a high-speed "Bullet" rail line and other future areas of expansion.

Actually, the first steps toward this North American Union are already in process as there is now a pilot program in place that will allow over 100 Mexican trucking companies to begin delivering goods throughout the US to Canada. Organizations such as the Teamsters Union, The Independent Drivers Association, Sierra Club and Public Citizen have been able to get the pilot program postponed due to the US Dept. of Transportation's truck equipment safety issues, but the pilot program will begin in earnest later this year.

The concept of the North American Union has been around for many years, but it became a serious possibility when the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) was formed by the Bush Administration in 2005. Per their charter; "The SPP is a White House led initiative among the US, Canada and Mexico to better protect US citizens from terrorist threats and transnational crime and to promote the safe and efficient movement of legitimate people and goods." (Go to www.spp.gov for more information.) Unfortunately, as to be expected, once again the Bush Administration is trying to dispose of more liberties for all American's under the guise of protecting US citizens from terrorists.

On March 23, 2005, the leaders of the SPP secretly first met in Waco, TX, for launching the organization. This meeting included President Bush, Mexican President Vincente Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin. On March 28, 2005, Rafael Fernandez de Castro and Rossana Berain, editors of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) news publication urged the SPP to "work toward a true North American Union". On May 17, 2005, the CFR's Independent Task Force on North America proposed that the NA Union groundwork be laid by 2010, so that there would be: "A virtual open-borders policy throughout North America".

On March 31, 2006, the functional SPP Operation's Committee met in Cancun, Mexico to review the progress of the SPP. The attendees at that meeting was quite impressive. Attending were; Condoleezza Rice - US Sec. of State; Michael Chertoff - US Sec. of Homeland Security; Carlos Gutierrez - US Sec. of Commerce; Stockwell Day - Canadian Minister of Public Safety; Maxime Bernier - Canadian Minister of Industry; Peter MacKay - Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs; Carlos Abascal - Mexican Sec. of Government; Sergio Garcia de Alba - Sec. of Economy; Luis Ernesto Derbez - Sec. Exterior Relations.

The following accomplishments have been made since the initial formation of the SPP:

>>Agreement to share each country's regulatory information

>>Reduce trade goods costs on $30 Billion in trade

>>NAAT Civil Aviation Security Agreement

>>Agreed to controlling money laundering between countries

>>A program for repatriation of Mexican nationals

>>Programs to test emergency responses to natural catastrophes

>>Exchange of info to protect food and agriculture

>>Tighten security of nuclear and radiological facilities

>>Canada and US partnership to enhance cross border security

(I wonder why Mexico is not include here...?)

>>Data collection / risk assessment for sea-cargo loading

>>Cooperate in avian flu and human pandemic flu management.

>>Coordinated strategy to combat counterfeiting and piracy

As one can see, all of these activities are potentially dual purpose in nature. They could apply only as three countries working together or as the initial steps needed to be taken before merging together as a single entity. In fact, the list above is consistent with many of the efforts that occurred before the formation of the European Union. For the formation of a North American Union, it could be a much simpler process as there are only 3 countries involved with mutual borders between countries that are already two of the largest trading partners with the US.

Is an NA Union really possible?

There is no doubt that a number of highly placed executives individuals are in support of an NA Union. And there are others that think that there is a conspiracy with a much larger goal of eventual world domination. As an example, I would urge you to go to the following video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuBo4E77ZXo where a 4-5 minute detailed video lays out the conspiracy concept of an eventual one-world final result. (This video has already been viewed over 500,000 times.)

I have personally tried to stay away from the conspiracy theory, but after watching the past actions of Bush and Cheney's anti-constitutional shenanigans, I don't put anything past them or their intentions. There are now a number of books and articles on the NA Union subject, the most well known being that by columnist and author, Jerome R. Corsi. In addition, the SPP's web site has a "Myth vs Facts" section designed to take on the accusations that a NA Union is a US Government goal in process. Unfortunately, when you read the site responses to all the so called "Myths" they all seem to fall very short of offering complete explanations of the SPP's real goals. Corsi has done in-depth research on the SPP and he has also learned that there is a very detailed SPP internal web site that is available ONLY to the leadership team members. Even Lou Dobbs of CNN has been on his TV show talking about the "Amero" as a possible new currency. And Mr. Steven Previs of Jefferies International, a global investment banking giant, was interviewed on CNBC where he mentioned that he didn't understand why the possibility of an Amero currency item was not getting much attention. He said in the interview that:"If it became a reality, it could potentially offer a much larger effect on world markets than that of the Euro."

As they say, "Where there's smoke, there's fire." This NA Union issue has been smoking for years and the smoke continues to get thicker and hotter from one year to the next.
